Trade In Thread

Samsung received my trade in at 2:45 p.m. today! And just a few minutes ago, I received an email from Samsung stating that my trade in was successful and I received the full quoted value! Phew!!!!! I am so glad. This was the most stressful phone purchase/trade in I ever experienced. Now I can kick back and enjoy my burgundy S22 Ultra 512MB. : )

Trade in sent Monday, received by Samsung at 3:00pm today and approved by 7:15pm for the correct amount. Done this many times over the years and this was by far the quickest.

Agree on your take. Last year's turnaround time was pretty long, but was understandable as they were short-staffed at the time. This year's turnaround has been the fastest I've experienced yet.

I agree about the stress! Verizon was offering $1000 for my S20+ but it wasn't showing right when I was checking out for my S22U. So before I finished the purchase I chatted with a rep who confirmed for me (and noted on my account) that the trade-in offer was $1000. I've been burned before with them claiming a phone I had returned before didn't turn on (which wasn't true as I turned it on and off before boxing). This time I had a video of me wiping and boxing just in case. It was received earlier this week and I've been obsessively and nervously checking the trade in status page. This morning it finally updated that the $1000 is approved. What a relief!

The most stressful part was the status page and purchase receipt showed the trade in value to be $290 (which is the standard value before the S22 offers) and when I read the update this morning the sentence I read was "On Mar 10 we evaluated the condition of your device and found it to be different than indicated..." and I freaked for a second. Then the rest of the sentence was "and adjusted the value from $290.00 to $1000.00" Mini heart attack to relief in one sentence.

Yeah, my wife's measly S10e was received in the pm of 3/8, she got the email that day that they had received and the standard verbage, but her phone was approved/accepted on 3/9 without a hiccup. I was sweating bullets as it took my Note10 3 days to get approved/accepted (3/4 received, 3/8 accepted; 3/4 was a Friday). Whew!

How do you get it approved so quick?
Sent mine in Tuesday, Samsung received it Thursday. So far nothing about it.

It may just be a crapshoot on who opens it and when. On one day they may get 500 returns and that's easy and another day a 1000 and that slows them down. I don't have any special magic but I do always return in the original Samsung phone box from the previous purchase and enclose a copy of the return form in that box as well as the the package that box is in...

I sent my trade in on Wednesday and got an email about noon today saying it was received. Last trade in I did, I got a acceptance email about 2 days after they received it. We'll see how this goes since the trade in was a phone and a tablet.

It took a little over a week, but my trade-in was finally approved. I'm still curious as to why it took mine so much longer than most.

Anyone here have any insight into trading in a phone with burn-in to T-Mobile?

I am trading in two phones: a perfect S8 and an S8 with burn-in. That screen has a consistent reddish/pinkish cast, but no specific burn-in shapes or letters. Otherwise, the phone is in perfect condition as well.

I've read posts on Reddit where T-Mobile employees say that they've never refused a trade-in due to an overall color shift on the screen. Some customers say that their phones with that color cast were returned to them.

Any thoughts or experiences with this?

That's so wonderful! So happy for you! Enjoy your snazzy new phone!

What do the terms and conditions of the trade-in offer say?

Interesting question!

The Rep I worked with on the phone for the purchase asked if the phones had "physical screen damage" - to which I said "No". The written "terms" say "damage". Knowing a little about how OLEDs work, burning in over time can happen even with what would be considered normal usage. So, that can enter into the "usage vs damage" gray area. I read stories that go both ways with T-Mobile trade-ins.

Not sure what to expect. They will both be traded in. I guess I'll just have to see.

trade in was successful. they haven't applied my extra $95 so I will be talking to them about that today

Sent in my trade in on the 7th and haven't heard from Samsung ever since. No news is good news I guess lol

I finally got my trade in approved. I sent it in on March 9th. I got received email on the 11th. It took till today to get the accepted and complete email. This was sent to Tennessee. The last trade in I sent in went to Texas and I get the received and accepted email the same day. Oh well - it's done and everyone is happy.
