I just donated to WebOS Quick Install because it has always been a helpful program, but I just switched to the HTC EVO 4G and Sprint told me they could not move my contacts from my Palm profile to the new phone, WTF! :-(

Thanks to Jason's great program and Xybyresoft's great program I was able to save my palm profile database and then extract my contacts into a CSV that I then Imported into GMail and VIOLA!.
I have all my contacts on my new phone, "No Thanks to Sprint".

Thanks again guys..

P.S. I love my Palm Pre and WebOS, but my Pre was dying and Palm's future seems blurry right now.

Moving contacts from Pre to Evo is no problem. The Pre syncs with Google so all you have to do is log in to your Google account on the Evo.

They lied to you at the Sprint store. They offered to transfer mine, but I was in a hurry.

The issue is that not all phone numbers on your Pre necessarily sync to Google. If they are contacts that you don't have directly saved in your Google account, then the Pre syncs them to your Palm profile. Those cannot be transferred via Google.

Call a Sprint company store that is also a repair center. They should be able to transfer those non-Google contacts.

the guys at your sprint store didn't know what they were talking about. they can't move your contacts from your palm profile, but all they have to do is hook the pre up and they can move them from your pre to the evo inn a couple of minutes depending on how many contacts you have. you really can't do anything from your palm profile at palm.com except for wipe your phone or change your username/password.

This is not entirely correct. WebOS will sync your Google accounts, but phone only contacts are actually synced to your Palm profile.

Now, if you have all your contacts saved to your Google account, this is not an issue. However, many people don't have their contacts set up that way.

i dont know if you can still as im not sure if you have the pre and can still use it but if you had/have preware on the pre and installed the email contacts patch you could have emailed it to your gmail and from there it would be easy by just syncing.

Why were you being noob and saving contacts to your palm profile anyway? I dunno, seems like a hack to rescue yourself for being dumb.

If you had Google as your default sync it will transfer everything. That's how I did it and it was no problem.

I used the "send contacts via email" patch from Preware to transfer all of the Pre's contacts to my Gmail account, then just sync'd the EVO with Google.

The Pre needs a file installed in it for the Sprint stores to transfer contacts off of the phone through their little machine. The Pre for some reason does not always take the file and then the stores cannot transfer the contacts.
