Android Central Question

Q1--how do I tell if I had set up the SD card on the S7E as adoptable memory? That may impact the following questions. (I do NOT intend to set up adoptable memory on the Note 10+ even if there were to be a workaround.)

I have an SD card in the S7E. Mostly music and some photos, also some files that may be system files. I thought I'd use that same card for now moving it to the Note 10+.

If I use Smart Switch, then...

Q2--will it ignore the data in the SD card on the S7E or copy it to main memory on the Note 10+?

Q3--if it ignores the data on the SD card, can I simply pop the SD card into the Note 10+ and have the music and photos on it accessible, or do I need to backup and then reformat it? On the other hand, I assume if it copies the data on the SD card, then I'd need to reformat the card and then copy the music and photos to it.

Q4--I've done basic setup on the Note 10+ but not put the SIM in nor added any apps (except what it added automatically from Google Play) but I have set up Mail. If I use Smart Switch do I need to start over from scratch to avoid duplicating anything?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! Samsung doesn't support Adoptable Storage -- at least, not from the typical options a user can access. You have to do a workaround with ADB commands in order to format a card as Internal Storage on a Samsung phone. So if you never did that, then the card is Portable Storage.

The S7 is little behind from Note 10 , so If you use smart switch or SD card only do it for pictures if you transfer everything over from the S7 can end up with settings from S7 older operating system and not play well with the newer note 10 , can run into greyed out settings toggle and other things .

Last Samsung had adoptable storage believe was s5 , after that no option unless u did how b. Diddy mentioned with adb commands.
