Transferring contacts from s3 to s6

help trying to transfer contacts to new phone. As it has no memory card and using new sim. How can I transfer contacts. I have tried smart switch but only done 2. Any ideas gratefully received ta

Smart switch didn't work? You sure you did it right? I went from s3 to s6 and it was easy as pie with smart switch.

Well I managed to find a way of transferring. I would share the link but it seems that because I am a newbie I am not allowed to...sooooooo, if you go to youtube and look up this : Backup your Phone Contacts to Google Cloud by Vaibhav Pandey you should be right. Worked for me anyway.

I agree. Having your contacts synced to your gmail account, then logging in with that same account on your new phone is the best way to do it. I have been doing this for years with no issues.

All I did was touch the back of my old S3 to the back of my new S6. They both bleeped, and asked me to touch a confirmation box. The rest was entirely automatic. Contacts, apps, everything, was transferred automatically.
