Transferring Files from Mac to Note 8: AFT, SmartSwitch, or Something Else?

I normally just use AirDroid to move things back and forth between my Mac and phone. It's perfectly suited my needs for a few years now, but that's because I'm usually only moving a few pics or a video here and there. I need to do some heavy lifting here and the wireless transfer with AirDroid takes longer than I'd like.

So what's the preferred method here? I tried AFT when I first started with Android a few years ago and didn't care for it. It was buggy and had start up issues. And once I found AirDroid, uninstalling AFT proved to be far more complex than it should be. So unless there's been sweeping changes to how it works on Mac, I'd prefer not to go down that road again.

I've never used SmartSwitch before so I don't know anything about it. Does allow you to just plug into your Mac and transfer content?

Are there any other options?

Smartswitch is fairly refined these days so moving files around from your MAC to your NOTE is straight forward. You cannot have AFT and Smartswitch installed at the same time. Ditch AFT.

TIP for once you're settled in with your device.

Also install Samsung's sidesync to both your MAC and your NOTE for an interesting experience. You can control your Samsung device remotely from your desktop. If your MAC supports a mic and speakers you can take calls from your device, move files to and from your device, send and receive messages from your device , and so on.. via USB or wireless. It's a very useful tool.

Installed SmartSync and ran a backup with no issues and all of the files/media from my phone got to my Mac lightening quick. So that's good. What I don't see though is an option to move content from Mac to phone.

This isn't a huge deal because other than music, I rarely move anything from Mac to phone (iSyncr covers the music for me), but just because I don't normally do this, doesn't mean I won't have a need at some point for it, so if there's a way to move content both ways with SmartSync, that'd be pretty legit.

I was expecting (hoping) that with SS, my phone would display as an external drive/ device in Finder to move content back and forth, but it didn't. What should I be looking for?
