I was looking to get some advice from some people who have had personal experience with the Transformer Infinity. Would you recommend the Infinity? I only ask because I'm looking at buying a tablet this holiday season and I don't know which one to get? I've seen the iPad 3 and I just don't like Apple's closed system where everything revolves around them and the apps are so expensive, so I saw a lot of posts online comparing the Infinity to the iPad 3 and I just wanted to know if it is still a good tablet to get? Also, is there any new upgrades (ie, the next Transformer device) being released before / during the holiday season?

Thanks in advance!

No, wait till the tablet gets updated to Jelly Bean and see how people react to it.

This tablet is buggy, not smooth. Just search Infinity lag on YouTube for videos.

My tablet is pretty dam smooth, I don't think its buggy at all, and I have compared it side by side to the ipad3, in my opinion it is a much better tablet. If you don't like apple's way of doing things then you should buy the Infinity 700. It just came out, and if you sit around playing the waiting game with tech like this you will always be waiting. No doubt if you are in the market for an Android tablet this is the best one to get. I also have the optional keyboard dock and it just makes the whole experience twice as good, I would recommend it. I mostly use mine for taking notes in school and pair it up with Evernote, it works great. I like it so much that I bought another one for my son and he also thinks its the best thing ever. Seriously, this tablet is like two months old, if you want state of the art tech and don't want anything from apple then get this one. I am using Go Launcher on mine, I like it better.

I have a Infinity and it has been a great tablet.

If you want the best Android tablet out there grab the Infinity.

I just purchased my Infinity with the docking keyboard a few days ago to replace my aging Touchpad- I did the research of reviews and comments on the web and decided on the Infinity because i prefer Android to Apple's system. Mine runs ICS and it runs just as fast and as smooth as my son-in-law's ipad3, and has no problems streaming videos from the web and the graphics (HD) are amazing(to me the HD is better than the graphics on ipad3). ASUS has said they are working to push Jelly Bean out to the Infinity shortly and should improve the Infinity. The keyboard dock works flawlessly when connected and is very compact for traveling. I am very satisfied and it was more than i expected after using the Infinity for a few days. I use the pad for email, reading- Kindle books and news, facebook games, surfing the web, and viewing movies/tv shows on Netflix. Also, i own other ASUS products, Monitors (2) and Motherboards (2) on my 2 desktops and have never had any problems with them-ASUS keep them timely updated so they work well. I am a middle of the road computer geek and try to keep up with the technology. If u decide on android-get the Infinity, imo, based on my research it is the best android tablet on the market at the present time.

Who knows what will pop up by the holidays, but I love the infinity. I compared it with the new iPad and eventually went with the Asus... Obviously. I have very few issues with it and I love when iPad owners look over and ask me about it.

Dude stop the nonsense. I'm a huge Android fan and hate Apples closed eco system. But, there is no way in the world that the Infinity could be compare to an iPad 3, is not even close. The IPad runs way smoother with no lag, no bugs and no crashes. There is no way you own both tablets Gene because if you did, you wouldn't be saying this.

Android phones give Apple a run for their money and it could be argued that they are better but when it comes to tablets, there is still a lot of work to be done.

And to those who claim that Asus has the best Android tablet, please grab a Nexus 7 tablet and then come back and comment.

This is not coming from an iPhan but from a loyal Android fan. I waited a long time for this tablet and I'm very disappointed with it.

Saying the N7 is better than the infinity is a personal preference. I looked at the N7, but the smaller screen and lack of expandable memory downgrade it for me. I also know people here count on the keyboard.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't it not Asus who makes the Nexus 7? Do you actually own an Infinity tablet? If you did, you wouldn't be making this comment. Mine works with no issues (save for one nagging issue involving some of the 'hotkeys' on the keyboard dock being slow to respond, but I'm guessing that'll be fixed with JB.)

This post is my opinion, that's what imo means, and Dude did u know ASUS makes the Nexus for Google; and i don't own an ipad, i compared the display with my son-in-laws ipad3.

From what I have read online and the video reviews I have seen it seems spec wise everything is the same except the Infinity has a slightly lower resolution display, however the Infinity is capable of going much brighter which for my purposes is more important and the Infinity's 1920x1200 is by no means "low res". Performance wise the iPad 3 runs only a dual core processor with a quad core GPU while Tegra 3 runs quad core processing and a 12 core GPU. Oh and looking at the keyboard dock that seems like something that would be perfect for class and just general surfing the internet. So it basically just comes down to software and personally I like Android more. Apps are cheaper, customizability is endless and hacking is welcomed!

I think I just talked myself into the Infinity lol

That is true is a matter of preference, but you can't argue that the N 7 runs way better than the Infinity. That's what I meant.

I won't correct you, I'll just use your own words to shut you. Asus makes the tablet for GOOGLE. It's manufactured by Asus but Google is who runs it. That is why they have N7 has Jelly Bean and the Infinity doesn't.

And to answer your question, yes I owned an Infinity which was sent back. So, I'm not talking out of my ass here, I owned the device and I comment on the experience I, my girlfriend, and my son had with the device.

And I know you are not being honest when you say your Infinity works without issues. You must be the luckiest guy on the planet who just happened to buy the only infinity without issues.

I expect issues with anything you buy but not to this level. The Asus Infinity is suppose to be the answer to the iPad 3, so I have to use the iPad 3 as a comparison and there is no comparison here. The iPad kicks the Infinity's ass in everything but specs and hardware. Which is also sad, because specs wise, the Infinity should crush the Ipad 3. but, it doesn't.

Sir, you are absolutely correct. Spec wise the Infinity crushes the Ipad 3 which is why I bought it. I'm not going to compare specs because we all know them but all the specs in the world mean nothing if the experience is not smooth. And the Infinity experience is not smooth, on the contrary, is very buggy, laggy and disappointing.

Don't believe me, just YouTube laggy Infinity for videos.

I hate to be the bad seed in the forum. But, someone has to tell the truth about the tablet.

I can't understand why a tablet with so much powers runs so buggy. This tablet should be the best thing in the world but is not. I found myself very frustrated with its lag, my girlfriend and my son wouldn't even touch it.

So this is why I recommend that people wait until the tablet gets Jelly Bean and see how it runs then.

It'll be black friday before I even start narrowing down the current devices. I like the Nexus 7 but its too small, if I wanted something around that form factor I would just get an e-reader, it also lacks mSD and even an HDMI out port. Currently the Infinity looks the best on paper but it sounds like it needs some major updates and hopefully after it gets a taste of project butter all the issues are resolved.

It's the future champion. You don't need crazy memory anymore. You can use a cloud service like Dropbox.

Hdmi output is over rated too. I never used it on my tablet and with my Ipad I use Apple TV to stream to my tv without having to use a cable. Google is doing the same thing with the google cube.

And please don't compare a N7 or Kindle fire to a e-reader.

The Infinity has all the hardware it needs, it just needs the software to back it up. Hopefully Jelly Beam will help.

Cloud services are nice (my school has completely moved to Google Drive / Documents) but where I am in central Florida all we have is a company called Bright House and they're a complete rip off! I pay somewhere around $50 just for 1mb/s internet which isn't enough to even watch an HD YouTube Video without waiting for it to buffer. Most of the time I end up using FoxFi on my Razr to get the speeds I need but eventually Verizon will get rid of all their unlimited users and what then? Everything would be on the cloud but whats good about it if I can't access it?

I bought into the whole HDMI is overrated and bought an Apple TV for use with my MacBook Pro 2011 and its a complete ripoff! I use the thing MAYBE once a month and when I do use it theres normally a few second lag even though I have a 300mb/s N Router. Plus at my school a lot of students use their computers / tablets via HDMI to do presentations and why should I have to pay another $30 for an HDMI adapter when I just paid $500+ for a tablet? It just seems easier to have it built in to the device even if it is the mini version (the adapters are only $2 on Amazon).

I was referring to the Kindle Fire AS an e-reader.

Well, in your case I can see the hdmi output benefiting you.

Apple tv is awesome though and I will probably buy the Google cube whenever it comes out.

Also going to buy the Android game Ouya.

This was sent from my Asus Infinity for those who don't believe I own the tablet.
