Transparent background option missing on LG G3

I want to change my home buttons from the triangle, circle and square and remove the back ground. but when I follow the directions I get no where,
How to customize Button Colors and Transparency on LG G3
"Navigate to Settings -> Display -> Home touch buttons, just use the “Transparent background” checkbox and you’ll immediately notice the differences."

There isn't a "Transparent background" option! nor are there any other button shape style options. I bought this phone as new. Is it new refurb or counterfeit?:'(

Please forgive the tardy reply.

If it's any consolation, I don't have that option on my own G3 either. I guess it must be normal.

The transparent background option, I believe, is app specific, meaning that the developer of each app has to code in the request for the transparency.
