Hello, I've been trying fruitlessly to get a cable that connects my phone to a monitor/TV. First I tried a Rocketfish MHL2.0 to HDMI adapter which had no signal, and then a MHL to VGA adapter from eBay which also doesn't work. I can't figure out if I'm really unlucky and purchased two broken adapters or if the problem lies in my phone. Any help appreciated

Note: The charging feature worked with both adapters when connected to my phone but neither displays output on the TV/Monitor.

Not sure about the second one, but I've read really bad reviews on the Rocketfish one (only found it because it was on sale on Best Buy), and it seems like it doesn't really work with certain models.

Just find one that reviewers with an S4 claim that works.

I played around with this a couple times. The only cable I could get to work properly was a red cable with an MHL connector on one end and an HDMI connector on the other end with a full size USB connector. It worked properly when plugged into a television HDMI connector and the USB connector plugged into the TV to get power for the HDMI I could not get the Samsung cable to work. The HDMI port requires external power and this is why the USB part of the cable is necessary.

It looks like this cable found on Ebay

MHL Micro USB to HDMI 1080p HDTV Cable Adapter for Samsung Galaxy S5 Note 3 III | eBay

Or a search for "MHL to HDMI Cable" will find this cable. Very inexpensive!

I hopes this helps!
