Trouble Receiving Updates After Changing Carriers

Recently (3 months ago) I changed carriers from AT&T to MetroPCS, I took my Note 3 over and since then I was not able to update my phone since then. It hadn't bothered me that much until I saw Lollipop on a friend's Note 3 (also AT&T) which I thought looked nice. I haven't even received 4.4.4 update. The model number is still SM-N900A and KIES still reads it as an AT&T phone. But when I try to update the phone through system update, it contacts AT&T servers and says "Update Interrupt, No new updates"

It's starting to bother me and I don't want to just flash the OS on the phone. I want a permanent solution so I don't have to flash the newest version everytime.

Welcome to Android Central! Someone else in another thread suggested buying a cheap AT&T GoPhone plan, inserting the SIM, and then doing the system update (since you'd then be back on the AT&T network). Once it's updated, you could then switch back to MetroPCS.
