Trusted Credentials - What happens if they are all erased?

interesting to find this thread.
I agree with the thinking we need an easy phone and also an online place to easily find and "fix" our phones.

Lets start a company..

Here is the REALLY sad thing... I do not even know half of what these dang features on my phone mean. I could have my phone set to something that it should not be set to, that I do not even know about. That scares me. I am not a stupid person but I am also not tech savvy in the least. All as I do with this phone is email every now and then, text a lot, talk on the phone and access the internet. That is it. I feel like this stuff is way more technical than it needs to be. Why can't these companies just have a phone that is a lot more user friendly for people who are not as smart as the kids these days, and these techy types of people. I have tried to learn a lot of this stuff and there is just way too much to follow and understand. I am highly misguided and wish that there were a website for people like myself (as stupid as it sounds), who is a smart person but just not when it comes to technical gadgets that a person has to have on a daily basis. I have no idea how I lived without this thing in the 80's without breaking down on the freeway and having nobody to call. Or, how I got through school without it either. However, I have no idea what half of these features even mean. Whenever I give it to a kid who can help me out with it, they simply try to look through all of my stuff... I then have to rip it out of their hands immediately. I do know that I try to set EVERYTHING to private. I am pretty convinced that there is never going to be enough privacy, or there is something that I missed setting to private due to there being so many things that a person has to set to private. This thing is on the verge of making me paranoid. ;-) Why can't there be a simple online class/instructions for each brand of phone out there (Iphone, Smartphone, etc...) that shows a person how to use every single feature, or at least shows what it does or is used for. I am sure that I am speaking for many of us middle aged and older people out there too. This stuff can really get to be a difficult mess if you aren't careful. Well... Even if you are careful. I actually know of people who will not even have a cellphone due to the difficulty they have just using a computer. It's such a difficult mess for them. Unfortunately, they are some of the people who need a cellphone the most too. It would be nice if they made a phone with huge buttons that you could read too. That way our older generation can use these too. Just my rant for the day. Thank you for those of you who actually read this. I did not mean for it to become a novel.

As many people said, middle aged and older people certainly struggle with learning and understanding smartphones. I'm 17 and an EXTREMELY tech savvy guy who has used Apple products and is currently on Android. I've worked with advanced automation, remote automation (making my phone and computer do things with each other based on certain contexts that only one can experience), basic programming, and other things on Android. However, I don't think that creating a paid course for this kind of thing would be very profitable in the long run for when the older generation (those who it does not come natural for) makes their transition, because we learn this stuff easily just by messing around. Soothingaroma, you should not have snatched the phone from those kids' hands unless they were going through your photos or other really private information, because we learn these devices by simply playing around with them. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt here and say that's all they were doing.

That being said, I used to be a tutor and I've been told I'm a pretty darn good one, so I think I could create a very helpful series of free (I don't think it's really worth charging older people to learn how to use such ubiquitous and frankly, for most, easy to use technology.. some things should be free.) YouTube videos detailing how to use your Android or iOS device. My only problem would be finding the time to do it.

100% agree with all that good to see this country DOES actually have some other logical and pure people jeep it up all in good time our dreams of a honorable and loveable USA will materialize. logic and reason shall prevail over greed corruption lies and oppression.

why do they bother asking me if my privacy can be raped? we all know that even when these information gathering mediums are "off" they arent or at least functioning at less aggressive level. plus all permissions have an un alterable system app that houses it safely ensuring that even if you think your not being spied on you are. well here this you comministic traitors **** YOU. lol Jesus Christ this country.... love it dearly but it becomes more difficult pretty often to have ANY patriotism about it. im not against America i just want it to be the way it should be and live up to its full capabilities that are all within reach and possible with enough heart and American dont quittery we cant fail at much as a nation. i won't give up on it but i also wont fall in line with the rest of the sheep that couldn't even explain to you what kt os they blindly follow. therefore contribjte too. a this spying **** is because they know theyre in the wrong anx they're afraid of us because the liberation approaches. So many think this way and the longer our government steps on our toes it will oy grow in strength. the people want their country back and we will have it eventually.

google explains how to use your android, the do's and dont's. if you don't have a google acct. you should get one... start by getting a gmail acct. google will break it down for you, they have video to teach you. good luck

Not true. I just disabled them all and now "no network can be found" It's terribly sad that in a world of millions of people NOT ONE website dedicated to teaching the insides and outs of this android device so many use. Clearly there are companies that are incorporated into these so called "Trusted credentials" that we should not have to put up with. For anyone aware of what major corporations are doing today, you know this is a new world order agenda to gather personal information on everyone and I'm getting sick and tired of arguing this crap with trolls who defend this communist establishment worldwide. Android is very much a part of gathering your personal information, storing it in a super computer, later to be used against you when the mark of the beast is enforced. These CEO's need to be stopped and let satan figure out another way to capture the minds of we the people. These CEO's need their teeth kicked in for playing us as if we arent aware. We've always been aware but never stood against it, which makes us guilty so if you want to help the future generation and please God for our soul sake, speak up all you apathetic doers of nothing and suffer the same persecution I receive for writing this type of comment which is the truth. These scum corporations have NO RIGHT monitoring our every move on products we buy for OUR OWN PERSONAL USE! Burn in hell all of those who support this scum satanic infiltration of our sovereign rights to be private.

El_Buhdai I sent you a private message yesterday, as I am new to commenting on public forums, I'm not sure if I did it right. Can you confirm you got my message? Thank you!

After reading all these comments yesterday, this morning, my SENIOR (somewhat savy) self was on that "Trusted Certification" page doing something else, when my dog suddenly jumped on my lap causing me to almost drop my phone. As, I tried to catch it, I must have hit the clear button because the option to reinstall them was bolded, I hit yes and sent to a page that says, "install from what file and they're all n computer language, none say trusted certificates. I am trying to open each file and see if I can figure out what file.....in the meantime, I just want any computer/Android cell phone Senior or not to know that.....I support and agree with your concerns....if "they want us to buy thier products, use thier services and keep up with today's technology then help us learn....instead of monitoring our movements, ie Seniors (Dr visits, grocery trips and oh the phamacy trips for those less active/disabled seniors) listening in on our calls (ranting abt our adult children, costs of bananas or our medical problems, occasional weather concern) or looking at our surroundings, friends, Bingo, Quilting qroups, etc through our cameras. There is such an overall win win option for helping us. For one sales for smartphones instead of the geriactic phones would go up. They could eradicate the need for sons/daughter's to pay for the "I've fallen and can't get up" service. I'm not saying it's a total solution without its own individual problems but with a tutoring option offered instead of invading our privacy, cause they can, try doing something good for our country parent's that gave them LIFE so that could learn/teach/produce this new technology. Rant over!

Thank you, I just accidentally cleared mine and don't know what file I'm supposed to select from to reinstall. Thanks again.

If you're wondering which ones you actually need to be able to surf the web, that depends on the websites you want to visit. I suggest disabling all of your trusted credentials, going on a browser on a different device (computer/laptop, tablet, etc.), and going to the website you need access to. Click the lock and view the name of the certificate they use. Then enable that specific certificate on your android. You should be able to browse that site only. Do this with other websites you tend to visit more often and you will have access to them. If there usually no limits to where you browse, you might as well keep all your certificates enabled since it would be a hassle to keep configuring these settings. I can't believe no-one provided this information on the internet. You're the lucky first. I don't get paid enough for this.

Yeah whoever is telling ya'll to clear is either deliberately trying to troll you or they themselves don't know. Not only will you not have access to the web, but you will have to pull your credentials back out from android's *** just to correct the mistake. There should be an option to disable them individually and reenable when needed again.
