Trying to backup with broken screen

I walked into the bumper of a truck at work and my hip hit the edge of the bumper right where my phone was (Samsung S6). I checked it and the screen would no longer turn on but the touch screen would obviously work (I could turn my flashlight on and off is the main way I could tell) and I could hear the noises when turning my volume up and down and I could hear when I get a text message or even answer a phone call by swiping the phone where I think the answer phone swipe is.

I've tried to look up info on how to back up a phone and it seems like Kies is a good program for this but after I installed it and connected my old phone to my computer it says the phone is locked but I have never set a lock or password or anything like that for my phone so I can't figure out what it's talking about. I tried it on my laptop also and it does the same thing. I want to back up my phone but I don't know should I be using a different program or is there a different way to go about this or am I doing it wrong? I don't think my phone is irreparably damaged because I could still answer phone calls on it. I've already changed my service to a new phone.

Ok thanks I finally found a good site to download smart switch from. For some reason it won't install on my windows PC but it did on my laptop. Kind of frustrating because it keeps saying I need to switch it to "file transfer" but can't get it to do it. At one point I was calling a not real phone number haha. I've tried clicking on "more options" as it shows on my new phone to then select file transfer, select file transfer right away as if the first menu doesn't pop up from looking where it is on my new phone and tried swiping down and clicking "more usb options" but without knowing which order it might be in my notifications I don't think I've gotten anywhere with that because the screen on my laptop still says "enable file transfer option". Sometimes my laptop goes back to the "connect device" screen and I'm pretty sure even though I've kept my old phone charged it somehow has turned off while trying to get it to work. Going to try more times when I get home. Unfortunately the device insurance service I was using with Verizon wants me to send my old phone back to them in 10 days of getting my new one so hopefully something works eventually. Thanks a lot for the help so far. :)

This is really frustrating still nothing is working. Even if I plug my phone in multiple times and the pop up doesn't appear because it's remembering the previous selection then dragging down the top menu and reselecting usb options should work but my laptop still always says to select file transfer option. I can't believe that samsung would design their device without a sim card, add this useless option to access phone which really only gets in the way and then not have some sort of work around for people to use to access their phones or that they could supply for people when something like this happens. Is there really no other option other than to try to mess around trying to select "enable file transfer" option over and over again? Thanks!
