Turn Off Typing "Assist"

I'm not sure what the formal name for the function that tries to figure out what I'm gonna type before I finish typing it is but I would REALLY like to be able to turn it off permanently. If I don't watch it like a hawk I get some REALLY interesting entries in search fields and other data fields. Such as I was looking for an ebook version of Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game". The software kept insisting that what I really wanted was "Lender's Game". NOT the same! And you would not believe what it did to the "satx" in the domain URL of my email address.

Any way to shut that functionality down and make the software accept that I know what the frack I wanna type and even if I don't to let me screw up at my own speed? My first tablet (el cheapo 500MB Chinese-made piece of crap running android 4.0.1) did not have that "feature" and I wish this whiz-bang quad core 16GB ASUS tablet didn't either. Is there a way to do that without committing multiple federal felonies? (misdemeanors are OK ;) ) I would really appreciate any insight you folks could provide.

Go to Settings>Language & Input, then tap the settings icon (usually a slider or gear icon) right next to the keyboard that you're using. Look in the keyboard's settings for Auto Correct and/or Prediction, and adjust them to your liking. I can't tell you the exact setting, because different keyboards have different menus.

Thanks, Diddy. It did the trick! I'm not sure why all the apps seem to have nanny function as a default. Bugs the living CRAP outta me. Of course I'm the guy that made the makers of the 16PF psych profile test have to recalibrate the test on the dependent-vs-independent scale. I went WAAAAYYYYY of the scale on independent. LOL My Mom said the first sentence I ever uttered was "Me do it me self!".
