Turned down iphone offer from T-mobile

It just feels like the antenna design is horrible on the nexus 4.

It just feels like other people have a different experience than you. Which makes sense if we don't all live and work at the same place.

Yeah it's definitely gotta be different experiences due to geographic location, cell towers, network, and so on.

Wow that's amazing speeds. I can't get anymore than 5mb down on AT&T 3G where I live with my Nexus 4. And I've tried 3 different apn settings and the one I'm using gets 5.5mb down at best.

Before I cancelled my AT&T account, I tried the sim in my Nexus 4 just in case I could get better speeds than what I was getting on the iPhones and it was just as bad, AT&T and Verizon are just bad where I live.

I always love hearing someone talking out of their a** because they can't imagine things being different than what they have themselves experienced, so kudos to you, Unicorn Rancher and DM_Droid, for your comments.

As for the original point of this thread, I'm glad that T-Mo is willing and able to carry a full range of products to satisfy their customers. That being said, given that this is a very pro-Android message board, I really can't imaging someone on here going around, jumping up and down, and shouting "Look at me! I just got an iPhone! Isn't that cool?"

And what the h*ll is it exactly with this whole "iCloud ecosystem" anyway? If you're connected to a cloud server, what is the need to sync different devices? You're already connected to the d*mn Internet; is it so hard to accept that data posted in an online setting is commonly available already? There is no magic behind this, and I wish people who use Apple's products ? particularly those with exposure to the Android community ? would understand that.

Some people like having iCloud automatically syncing their notes, events, contacts, music, etc. For me, iCloud wasn't viable because it can't sync with Outlook.

That's what's really odd for me. When I was using my galaxy S2 skyrocket I only had 3G for the first 6 months before my area got LTE for AT&T. And both 3G and LTE were good. Then when I put my SIM card from that phone in my Nexus 4 the 3G wasn't as good. I don't get it.

Honestly when I ask a lot of my customers why they want an iPhone it's always either "I don't know, all my friends have one..." Or another common reason is "we'll I have a Mac so I feel like it'll just sync better". And it has recently occurred to me that I don't think 98% of customers even know what 'syncing' is or how to 'sync' things. They Apparently think that if they have an android phone they can never put their pictures on their Mac or something. And the real kicker, 98% of these people have no idea what I'm talking about when I ask them if they have iCloud set up. /rant

I can believe that. I remember a few years ago that Apple released some facts stating that 25% of iPhone owners at the time never connected their iPhone to their computer to sync, backup or even update the OS in the time they owned it.

And, as much as one might pick on Apple's customers, let's not forget to hold Microsoft's up to the same scrutiny. Classic example: a Windows user gets a program on a CD, but that software developer decided for whatever reason not to use Autorun. So, the Windows user sticks the CD into their optical drive, and "nothing happens". So they eject the CD and re-insert it. Nothing happens. They try over and over, and eventually give up and want to return the program because "it's defective".

I think the main reason folks stay with Iphone is just because of the fad and marketing...People who need to have I this ot I that I now call Iwants lol. I've had many apple products over the years, had a Iphone and I no longer want anything with a I before it's name...Love my android phones and just got a Nexus 4...Best phone yet
No it's not a fad.

I like iCloud because it automatically syncs pages documents with my ipad and laptop, it's not complete crap.
Also many apps are starting to use iCloud to store app data.

T-Mobile called me yesterday to offer me a chance on the waiting list for the iphone 5 since I have been a long time customer. I was pretty happy to turn it down considering that I am a proud owner of the nexus 4. The phone rep was noticeably shocked when I told them that I wasn't interested and I told them that basically it is a huge downgrade. After this conversation it got me thinking that T-Mobile has the best selection with the most high end phones available but when they start selling the iphone, they are putting something on the market that is basically yesterdays news compared to phone like the nexus 4, the GS3, the Blackberry Z10 and the HTC 8x.

I pop into the local T-Mobile store today to take a peak and I couldn't help but notice how long and narrow the new iphone is and how much it looks like they simply stretched the previous iphone out. None the less, T-Mobile might see a surge of initial sales but once the initial surge wares off, I doubt that future sales will be anything fantastic.

Anyone else have any opinions on this considering that for 2012, Android garnered a commanding 69% market share world wide?
Umm the "stretched out phone" actually had a bigger screen(albeit in one direction only) but the size was noticeable it isn't as painful as switching between my N4 and iP5.
Also no the iPhone absolutely is not "backwards" but I will get to that when I get off my Apple iPad and onto my Apple MacBook Pro;)

I'd agree with this. I have a couple of friends who have iPhones and the only reason they got them is that "everyone has them." Now that they have it, they don't see what the big deal is and some of them can't wait to get rid of it.

iCloud is a perfectly viable model for cloud-based storage, but I just don't really see the value in tying oneself to the cloud. The moment you don't have an Internet connection, you've severed access to your data. And, because none of Apple's software is cloud-based, you still have to have local storage for software. I dunno... it just doesn't really appeal to me.

I also know that most people (it seems to me, though I admit I could be wrong) are too stupid to back up their own data or take responsibility for themselves and their computers, etc., and Apple (in particular, but there are others) have decided to do something to address that. It's not wrong on Apple's part to come up with a solution for a problem.

No I can still access files without internet...

Well that's a massive generalisation of people owning iPhones....

I actually bought an iPod Touch 5gen recently so i could have some of the apps, listen to podcasts, Facetime (overrated), etc. Good VFM, the new larger screen of the iphone5, the 4S cpu, super sexy slim profile, neat build quality. It's also a very handy Authenticator device, does EAS push mail & calendar handily, and even several of the Google apps work great on it. The Samsung and Panasonic TV and BD player apps are icing on the cake. Pretty good camera.

Nowhere near as fun as my N4, it's more like a limited tool.

All the fun of an iphone without the cost. Oh,... and when I tether it to my N4 on T-mo, it positively screams.

LTE isn't a factor for me either. Where my comments come from in the iPhone being a downgrade are from the fact that the Nexus 4 has NFC, Higher dpi screen resolution, Bigger screen, free of iTunes, Better apps, Better CPU, a front camera as good if not better than the rear camera on the iphone 5, gorilla glass, free of apple as a whole, unlocked GSM out of the box, common connectivity using a standard USB connector, cheaper accessories, no need to register a credit card to use the app store........ Should I continue!!!!! I actually went to the store to look at one and held my N4 next to the iphone. My N4 has a longer and wider screen. In essence, all that I mentioned I would have lost going to the iphone. If you think that I have no experience with the iphone, your wrong, at one time I owned an iphone 3g on AT&T. After 6 months with it, it felt to me over rated so I paid out my contact and gave the phone away for free. I discovered a huge flaw with it right away when I deployed to Afghanistan and took it with me. Keep in mind that I had all the international provisions, and 3G service on the base but the flaw came about the first time I tried use any app other that SMS. Any app I tried to open told me that it could not run because there was no connectivity to iTunes. Not even my contacts would open. This infuriated me because even app that I paid for like games wouldn't run because iTunes couldn't give them permission to run. It made me feel like under apple, they only wanted me to do what they wanted me to do and that was that. Luckily I had the fore sight to expect something like that happening and I brought the phone I used previously, a Samsung black jack 2. It gave me no issues, and everything ran like it should have. You could say that crapple gave a deadly blow the their chances at ever getting me to be a customer again.

As far as Apple Fan boys go, it nutts how these people pine away waiting for the next edition of apple products which always come with only slight improvements. In fact apples business model supports this because they design a product and plan for the life of this very device and how to keep it fresh. In the end, the ipod should be seen as an example of the. If you look at the ipod 1 through ipod 7, what really changes? a color cover, change the size slightly, the shape slightly. It wasn't until ipod 8 that finally a major difference came a long, a touch screen. It's proof positive that Apple likes to string its customers along like a bad girl friend. The iphone 5 is no different. They have only made small improvements from version to version and none are significantly different and they are roughly 3 years behind companies like Samsung and HTC is the technology department. I just don't see the fantasism is running out to buy the next apple product because in reality, it's the same as the one they already own. It ridiculous and retard.

I don't knock people, if they want to purchase crapple products. I just don't wanna be bashed because I gladly choose to buy into the stupid FAD associated with the little white Apple.
