I got this message in my security settings for unlocking the phone. Turned off by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage, Right now, I'm stuck with face unlock, pin or password. Is there a way to change it so it's just back to swype?

Did you or anyone else encrypt the phone? Encryption limits your screen unlock options (although I don't think face unlock is an option if you're encrypted).

There may be some other security app that is limiting you. Go to Settings>Security>Device Administrators, and see if there is anything besides Android Device Manager that is listed. If there is and it's checked, try unchecking it.

Yes, I did encrypt the phone thinking I only needed the PIN at startup.

Just Android Device Manager and Email are checked in the Device Administrator tab.

That's a limitation of encryption, presumably to improve security. I don't think you can un-encrypt a phone, so you're kind of stuck with those options at this point.

If you have a corporate email (Exchange) account setup on your phone, your company's IT department has configured its Exchange server to require password protection on ActiveSync devices. Your only option is to remove the Exchange account from your phone or convince your IT manager to reconfigure the Exchange server's security rules.

Hi..

Same prob with mine... i dont even remember encrypting it. So, you mean to say even i restart factory setting? this encryption will still remain. It means im stuck with this forever.

I'm not absolutely certain about this, but if your phone didn't originally come with Android 5.0 (Lollipop), you should be able to sideload a factory image:

https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images

and keep it unencrypted. But, if your phone originally came with Lollipop, then it comes encrypted out-of-the-box and there's no way to un-encrypt it. If you can't un-encrypt it, you'll alway have to have some kind of password.

EDIT: Well, I swear I read an article somewhere which said the above, but I can't find it. However, I might be wrong about the whole thing. Here's a thread talking about how to remove forced encryption:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/disable-forced-encryption-gain-root-t2946715

AND, even better, the Nexus Root Toolkit supposedly will remove forced encryption:
