Do you have to root to do this or just have the ability to open the .db file? Thanks.

hmm, I believe you'll have to be rooted as I don't think you'll be able to edit db files unless you're rooted

Does not work with Sprint.
So Sprint is the only carrier truly keeping skirt wearing women safe from perverts then?

There should be an option to turn off the shutter sound in the camera setting. I have it off on mine.
It is there. When you open the settings in the camera mode you can scroll the options. Scroll down to to the shutter sound in the menu box. What opens up in the menu box is not all the settings.
So maybe all of the US phones have it? (still waiting on my Verizon phone!)
Some phone makers are not providing the options to mute the camera click sound so as to prevent perverts from taking under-skirt shots, which is good.
I'm on verizon. I just set my ring to vibrate or no sound, then I have no shutter sound.
Hello folks,
Just download and install this apk. Confirmed tested and working on Sprint and Verizon S III's. No rooting required. Enjoy!

Probably my biggest pet peeve with this phone so far.
The shutter still sounds in vibrate and silent mode, and it's LOUD.
It's a Sprint phone in the U.S. and there is no option to turn it off in camera settings.
Is there an app that allows you to have control over this?
