Turning "off" my Evo

Is there another way to turn it off other than holding the power button down, clicking off and then saying "ok" to the statement that the phone will shut down?

If you want to shut down the device, hold power button down, or pull the battery.....

other than pulling the battery, Nope - unless ur rooted

Are you really turning the phone off that often that this is a problem? The phone is designed to be left on.

I've had my EVO for 6 months and am not sure if I have ever shut it off! Sleep yes but not off.

I turn mine off atleast once a day to change the battery.

True, the only other way that worked for me was through an app I had after rooting.

I had that rom for only a week almost two months ago. Sorry I don't remember.
