TUTORIAL: Downgrade Samsung Galaxy S5 from 5.0 to 4.4 KitKat

OK and KNOX? Will be 0x0 or 1? TnX

Flashing stock Samsung firmware will not change your Knox flag.

WARNING! By downgrading to KitKat, you will no longer be covered by the last 9 months security updates in the Lollipop releases, for such things as the Stagefright exploit, to name but one.

Yes i know, last MOT Lolipop FW has Stagefright fix but this last version of FW is really CRAP. Stock SMS/MMS app is sometimes opening 2-3 seconds... everything is very laggy... Or if i try other stock FW for Slovenian region with other CSC?

You could try wiping the cache partition or even do a FULL WIPE+FACTORY DATA RESET as per the instructions in S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide

Hmmm ok, than i will maybe reflash Lollipop. But... i have no errors or something else in this FW... just slow and lagy...

Hey ironass hope you can help me I've been using G900FXXU1ANG2 as well as tried :

G900FXXU1ANE2
G900FOJV1ANE1

Both above are 4.4.2.

I was wondering if I use any of the builds below (there are all for G900F and my carrier branded XFM (South African) phone and are listed in order of build date according to sammobile.

G900FXXU1BOE5
G900FOJV1BOF1

G900FXXU1BOJ1
G900FOJV1BOF1

G900FXXU1BOJ1
G900FOJV1BOF1

Will I be able to odin back to ANE2 (for rooting purposes without tripping KNOX for example) without having any issues like loosing my imei or tripping KNOX etc? Will the bootloader not prevent me from downgrading to 4.4.2 from any of the above 5.0.

Thanks:)

No problem on the international models with upgrading/downgrading but rooting will now trip the Knox flag.

Thanks for the reply. So even if I go back to the ANE2 4.4.2 after being on 5.0 it will still trip KNOX if I try to root even though it doesn't now?

Do you mean that you are currently on rooted on 4.4.2 and want to flash 5.0 and then root it? That will permanently trip your Knox flag. If you do not root it, it won't.

Sorry what I mean is If I decide to go back to the root able 4.4.2 can I still root the original way I used to root that doesn't trip KNOX?

Gotcha... I think! You are rooted on 4.4.2. You want to unroot and go to Android 5.0. Then, without rooting, return to Android 4.4.2 and re-root without tripping Knox. That should be fine. Can I ask why you would want to do that?

Appreciate your responses.
What I mean is if I really dislike 5.0 then I'd like to option to go back to 4.4.2 and have the potential to root.

As I have been on 5.0 before on a Note 3 and for some reason couldn't stand it compared to kit kat.
