Tutorial: Flashing a custom ROM on TF700T

Hmm....At first I received an Out of Memory. Uninstalled Fastboot and re-installed directly under C:\. Now the program crashes on that command.

Thanks for the help berndlb! Runs great! I got a tiny boost on a benchmarker but most importantly I'm lag free!

Mmhh - did you choose the option to turn fsync off? That would give you more than a tiny boost ;-)
Try it next time you flash the room.

HI benrdlb,
On my TF300T, I unlocked the device and installed "openrecovery-twrp-2.6.1.0-tf300t-JB.blob" which I renamed "twrp.blob". Then I booted as you indicated in your tuorial. TRWP opens up but when I go to install, it doesn't show my external sd card where I put the "CROMi-X DEODEX 5.3_Signed.zip". What did I do wrong????
Thanks in advance for your help.

My bad,
I made a mistake and installed "openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-tf300tg-JB.blob" instead of "openrecovery-twrp-2.6.1.0-tf300t-JB.blob". So I went back to the Minimal ADB Fastboot Tool and redid the process with the version for TF300T. Then followed your instructions but still no trace of the external SD card. Now I'm wondering if the incorrect TWRP version has indeed been overwritten?!?! Help me please.

I can think of 2 possibilities:
You do know that you have to tap on the field where it says: Internal Storage, and change to your external?
Or your microSD is formatted to something other than fat32. TWRP cannot read ntfs or exfat formatted cards.
Check both and let me know.

Nope, I didn't. There is an app called trickster that supposedly does it. I'll turn off when I flash the next version of Cromi-X. How often do they update the ROM version?

sbdags has minor updates every couple of weeks or so. But he's busy with a the beta version for the TF701 now, so development for the TF700 may slow down a bit.
If you don't want to re-flash with different options, Trickster is a good way to toggle fsync on/off.
There's a minimal risk involved to corrupt your data if you have a sudden crash with fsync is off. Even that is only a problem if your data is not backed up - which is a very bad idea anyway.
I've been running with fsync off for a year and no problems at all. It's the best way to get around the slow I/O performance on this tablet (due to the cheap memory Asus used).

My SD card is formatted in fat32. But I don' understand TWRP. First, I get the "Install/Backup/Restore/Wipe/Mount/Settings/Advanced/Reboot" screen, but now, when I tap the "Install" button, I get a screen with "E:Unable to find partition size for ' /misc" and the same for "staging, data, recovery and boot" Then "E:Unable to mount ' /cache" .Then ""E: TWFunction::Copy_Log --Can't open destination log file: ' /cache/recovery/log' .
Then: "E:Unable to set emmc bootloader message" Then " E: unable to mount' /cache" . And the same for " '/sd-ext " and" ' /external_sdcard'" And the last line: "E:Failed to decrypt data."
I'm totally lost!

Oh - oh! That could be a known and infamous TWRP bug or - and I almost suspect - you flashed a TWRP version for a different device . Which version did you flash?

Edit: Yep! Wrong recovery! Read here the requirements in red: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425390
Please boot into the bootloader (Volume Down + Power) and read the tiny script. That will give you your bootloader version and determine which recovery you have to flash. Post your BL here

Also read this guide very, very carefully. Do not flash unless you are sure you got it right!!!!!

Note to everybody else: belledonne is using this guide to flash a TF300, not the TF700! Do not follow the instructions in above links unless you have a TF300!!

When I boo into the BL, I get this script: "Key driver not found.. Booting OS Android cardhu-user bootloader <1.00 e> released by "WW_epad-10.6.1.27.5-20130902" A03
Starting Fastboot USB download protocol 3

Ok, so you are on the 10.6.1.27.5 bootloader and need the patched TWRP 2.5.0.0 for the TF300. I attached it to this post.
Good luck

Thanks for your quick reply. I downloaded the file but when I tried to extract it? it said " The archive is either in unknown format or damaged." and "No archives found" ???

Thank you so much, berndlb for all your advice and patience with a newbie like me. I'm on CROMi-X now and surfing the internet on my tablet has become a real pleasure!! Hope it stays that way. To all the transfomer pad owners who still hesitate: It's well worth taking the plunge!!

Hi Berbdlb,
Before I flashed CROMi-X onto my tablet in TWRP, I didn't do a Factory Wipe. I'm wondering now if that's the reason I'm having occasional problems. Yesterday, for instance, when I wanted to type a request in Chrome, slashes and dots started appearing all on their own while the space bar kept flashing. When I shut off the tablet and turned it on again, the incident didn't reoccur. My question is: If I do a factory wipe in TWRP now, do I have to reinstall CROMi-X?

I would recommend it... Some apps and settings get installed to the data partition and those would get wiped.
Have you tried the stock browser? Chrome sucks on Android - and doesn't support flash....

I have tried plenty of browsers but I'm sticking with Chrome mainly for the synchronization of my bookmarks which is more difficult with the other browsers.
