Two Optimus S's doing the same thing.

I've got two Optimus S devices, my mother's and my step father's, they CONSTANTLY lose programs out of the app tray. My mother's can sometimes be fixed by powering it off and on. I had to factory reset my step father's as his home button stopped working.

Are there other people having problems like these and what did you do?

Well the only things I can think of are reflash the stock rom or a custom rom or do a factory reset. I might try the factory reset first. And u might also get those phones exchanged. Sprint is normally really good about that.

Have the apps been moved to the SD card? If so, are both phones using different cards other than the stock SD card? People mentioned how those cards needed a Windows formatting to fix an error. Unsure if the latest phone update fixed all that.

One is using the factory card, one is not.

The SD cards are a lot of the times the problem. The ones that come with the phone are crappy junk ones. I replaced mine with a minimum class 4 card 4gb. No problems since.

I stopped moving apps to SD card. It inevitably failed and had to factory reset phone 2-3 times... dunno what the deal is, but it corrupted itself over and over.

I've had program icons come up missing out of folders tons of times, but the apps themselves were still installed on the phone and just needed shortcuts put back where they were supposed to be.
