Two removable screen protectors from factory? Or just really not scratch resistant

I need some clarification to make sure I'm not going crazy.

I just got my phone today. I removed the plastic screen from the phone that has the writing on it (like where the SD card is etc.). The one designed to be removed before use

Is the next layer under that the shatter shield? I have only been using my phone for about 8 hours and it has tons of scratches on it already. Am I missing something? Is there another screen protector designed to be removed before use?

I have used after market plastic screen protectors that have lasted for months with less scratches.

It's shatterproof but not scratch proof. There have been posts around saying the best thing is to put a screen protector over it. I am using the flexible glass one from Verizon. You might have to buy the replacement shield from Motorola and then immediately put another protector on it. IMHO this whole shatterproof business is a tad deceptive if they don't emphasize that it can get scratches easily.

I've tried 3 different tempered glass screen protectors and all three do not adhere at the top and bottom. Apparently a slight curve prevents a secure and complete fit. Guys posted elsewhere the flexible glass from Verizon seems to stick.

I'm going to call it already that we're going to have a minimum of at least 1 new thread a week complaining about the screen scratching, and another new thread a week asking about screen protectors...

I'm not sure what you guys are doing with your phones that's making them scratch so easily. I've had mine for a week, and have been working in a warehouse, setting it down face down, throwing it in my pocket where it definitely lightly touches a metal button as it slides in, and I have zero scratching. I've used plenty of screen protectors that get micro scratches in my line of work and that usually takes about a week. Considering I don't have any as of yet, I am concluding this is definitely as scratch resistant as a top notch screen protector would be. I will also note that I know plenty out there with phones with Gorilla Glass 3 and they still buy screen protectors to prevent this from happening, or have had it happen. Hell I did for my 1st edition Turbo; and there's a reason for that too, Gorilla Glass also can scratch, and it's more permanent, so when it does, it sucks a lot more. If Gorilla Glass was really that scratch resistant, the screen protector industry would be hurting a lot more.

+1. No scratches at all on mine and I haven't been particularly careful...

I actually have been rather careful ly, which is why I'm so surprised. I have only had the phone in my scrubs pocket and out on a table face up. Never in a purse or jeans.

I expected the screen to scratch, I just expected it to be more on par with screen protectors.

Yeah it sounds like something flukish must have happened. I feel pretty confident that the outer layer is up to par when compared to other screen protectors.
