If she drops her phone in her purse, anything in there could have scratched it - keys, zippers, pen points, coins, etc.

A diamond earring might have done it, but don't think she was wearing them (usually doesn't to work). As for the above, I would hope GG 3 would protect against all of that. Regardless, she doesn't throw her phone in her purse. It has a dedicated pocket.
