UI 7 Things You Like / Dislike

Either I’m on shrooms or the update has removed trusted devices from extend unlock. I see the on-body detection option, and the trusted places option, but I no longer see the trusted devices option. Verizon, S24 Plus.
It's still showing up on my s24U unlocked from T-Mobile.

Hopefully, another a locked Verizon device user chimes in. Meanwhile, you might try clearing your cache partition & see if that helps.

PS.. Share the Shrooms. ;)

Ok, was able to solve this and bring back the trusted device option by wiping cache and data for Google Play Services (recently updated), and then wiping the cache partition. Voila.

I must be hallucinating as I hear Rod Serling's voice - "You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind...That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop...One UI7"

Nice!! I'm glad you were able to solve it. (y)

Love the Rod Serling reference. 🤣
Of course, now when a One UI 7 problem arises, I'm going to hear that music...

I'm on Exynos version and I must say that battery life is not what it used to be. It's like percentage is falling faster than on OneUI6 while I'm using the phone.

Man, if you don't use the Samsung launcher, it barely feels like an upgrade - just the typical "Let's add some more white space around every element so I can get my promotion" upgrade.

One thing I noticed is that the lock screen notifications can't be adjusted with Good Lock, so you can easily get overlapped elements if you add widgets.

I'm still using Nova Launcher and OneUI 7 has caused 2 changes.
1) There's now some required padding around the edge of the screen. Some widgets can't seem to reach the edge regardless of their padding setting.
2) Wonky widget scaling, like for the Buds Pro 2 battery widget. The size and number of elements inside are all wonky.
Hopefully those get fixed, but this might be enough to get me to (finally) transition to another launcher.

Has anyone had issues with the Google Clock alarms? After the update, they didn't seem to go off a few times, or were at a low volume. I think it might have to do with playing through a BT headset. Sometimes, I fall asleep wearing a headset at a very low volume, but the alarm still played (loudly) via the phone speakers. I'm not sure that's the case now.

Have you tried the default Samsung clock app? It works fine for me. I've never used the Google clock app on any Samsung phone, so I can't say anything about its reliability.

I very much like and am enjoying everything about the update with 1 exception. Battery life did take a hit. Prior to the update, I'd use my phone ftom 7am till 10pm and always stayed above 50%. After the update, I'm using my galaxy S24 ULTRA the same way, but now at 10pm km at 30%. So it definitely had an impact you battery life.

I should probably add that my battery life took a minor hit, too. I usually end the day with ~60% and now it's around 50% (ignoring the day of update, when I was plugging in and unplugging a few times).

Finally able to post. Saw this thread the day it came out but didn't have a chance to reply.

Anyway, I imagine it has been said a thousand times by not but vertical scroll and grouping alarms were the things I was most anticipating. Not surprisingly these are my things to love about the update.

I'm neutral on the AI add-ons. I barely use them now, and don't see myself using them any more than I do, and even less or not all if they start charging for any of them. I'm also neutral on the notification / quick settings swipe methods. Not sure how I feel about the app icon in notifications. Pretty sure I saw an option to go back to the old app icon appearance.

I hate the rounded EVERYTHING. Sure soften a corner here and there but everything going round is a bit much. I can change the size of the Samsung widgets but the font on those widgets stays the same size. I made the same widget from before the update into a 4x4 clock on my home screen. The old widget seemed to take up the extra space and may have added a bit of information but the new widget just gets bigger but not the font, making it look a empty. Same with the weather widget. On a sidenote I was just about to get a clock with seconds so I could see when the minute was going to change, so a plus? Not really a fan of the super-sized home row icons.

I see a few people saying they are getting worse battery life. I'm having the opposite experience. I did clear the cache partition a day or so after the update. Especially since this was a major update including the OS.

Speaking of icons, why is the location icon constantly at the top of the status bar? Doesn't look like a way to remove that. I checked all permissions for apps and don't see one that is actually using a location.
When I tap the icon it says being used by system apps, which has probably always been the case. Only now we get this constant reminder. One plus could be that you can tap this icon and see what is using it? I think it is going to cause more concern than it elevates.

(y) I think clearing the cache partition after a major update is always a good idea. I performed one as soon as the update finished. So far my battery life does seem much improved.

I agree. I did wipe the cache partition, and I've noticed battery life to be better, not worse.
