Ultimate stupid question

Im asking cause I dont know! and don't think Im too stupid!!

What does it mean to access my SD card? Why do I want to? How do I do it?

Does this prove Im too stupid to own a droid?

Access meaning you can open the files in it.
Use Astro file manager.
You want to as you can back apps up (just in case the app removes stuff you like, think Dolphin HD), move pictures around, rename files, delete music..ect. All without connecting to a pc.
Open the app and bam you are there.
