O2 UK is a no with UMA. UMA only works on the Orange UK Network.
And then - so I am finding - it only works on Android if you actually have Orange Firmware on the phone. Frustrating. I'm a Blackberry man and it "just works" on my phone on Orange. It is part of the default Blackberry OS.
In the Android world an Orange App is required that is only available to the Orange Firmware and not via the store.
And then it only works on the Orange UK network.
This is annoying. UMA works brilliant for me on my Blackberry. A life saver as I don't have any phone signal at home, and I often work in basements. So I needed a phone which can swap to WiFi when no 3G around.
It is a pity as I was getting tempted by the Samsung phones - but this lack of UMA is going to stop my upgrade.
Even more annoyingly I have just told a friend to buy a Samsung Galaxy S II instead of a Blackberry. He also needs UMA. But he didn't buy a phone with Orange Firmware on it. Which means it will need to go back if we can't find a way to get UMA running.
Does anyone anywhere have any hints at getting UMA working on an Android? Or does no one actually use UMA in the Android world? (I know forum searches are not getting me very far)
