Unable to disable HTC's stock dialer

[AC Question]

Hi, I would appreciate if someone could shed their lights on this. I tried to isntall the non-nexus version of Google dialer and contacts to my HTC U11. Dialer seems to be working ok but the stock dialer was also working in the background (while ringing and during the call). This is ever after I tried to take away all the permissions, notifications etc from all the apps relating to stock dialer. The second app, Google contacts keeps crashing on me when i try to search for a name. Any ideas?

Check this thread on XDA. I don't believe you can disable the system dialer. I'm using the Google dialer. No crashes searching contacts. Spam ID is working.

This ^ installed the Google stock phone app, works fine the only thing I see missing is the missed call count on the phone app itself. It does show missed calls once you open the app and in the notification bar. Other than that it's better than the stock HTC phone app

I'm using version 7.0.140861421-nonnexus that I got from apk mirror and it works fine on my U11. No crashes at all. Do not use anything from the Play Store.

I'm using the ZenUI dialer and contacts app.
