Unfortunately, Gmail Stopped Working....Error

I am getting this error every time I open Gmail app. Gmail Widget shows new mail when it comes, but, when I open the same I get this error. I have tried reboot, factory reset, clear cache & data. But, nothing helps. The other mail app works just file, but Gmail app and Widget do not.

I will really appreciate the solution to this annoying issue.

Even after a factory reset.. just added your account back and it's still happening? That's really odd. You are stock I assume too, not on a custom ROM?

It is definitely not a hardware issue, lol. But beyond doing a factory reset I'm stumped, I mean that would be my last resort.

After the reset, you just boot up, enter your google account info, and before you install anything or change any settings Gmail just starts FC'ing on you? I've really never heard of this happening..

Gmail.apk could of gotten corrupted at one time. Even on factory reset, the system would still use the same apk to restore to stock. Hence not correcting the problem.

I have had the same problem for at least the last 2 weeks. On both a Samsung Galaxy S3 and ASUS Transformer Prime TF201, both stock standard with all the OTA updates.

I had the same problem. I figured out it was caused by e-mail I received from one particular friend. What I did was delete his e-mail. Thereafter, everything worked fine. Only problem: I had to remind myself to un-delete it when I got to the home computer. Here's a hint about whose e-mail to try: if it comes into your mailbox with a return address that is loaded with "special characters," like "&" that's probably the culprit.

i have the same problem too, i just try update gmail in play store..
open play store -> search gmail -> and click update
after that open gmail..

and voila gmail working again..

Thx for the phone number. Took me just a few minutes to resolve. Went to settings, application manager, gmail (the big red M), then cleared data and cache. Immediate fix. They thought it was a software difficulty, not an app problem.

I was having the same error from long time. I flashed cyanogenmod to stock to cyanogenmod to stock back and forth. after using my moto e for a few days i started getting the same error messages. One day i updated my android system app then everything just seemed fine to me. with no more error messages. I will recommend you to do the same.

Ok fellas... here's what you need to do.....go to app info...or just go to the details of that app (gmail)....force stop + disable then update....then enable...clear cache...clear data ....(if needed) clear default...close...and then restart your mobile....that should help....cheers (I have tried it on my Lenovo K4 Note(excellent hansdet) I love it
