Try Settings, Apps, All, scroll to Messaging, if that is the messaging app you are using, and select Clear Cache.

I too have been experiencing this issue on an ongoing basis. I have tried clearing the cache, but the problem prevails!

Same issue here, but "clear cache" was grayed out, then appeared, but doesn't do anything. It stays at 24.00KB.
