Uninstalled Android Auto, now not receiving text notifications.

Prior to installing Android Auto, my Uconnect 710n used to notify me of a text message and offer to read it. I tried Android Auto, which stopped notifying me. I guess it's good for a vehicle which allows the phone to display on the vehicle's screen. Mine does not. So I uninstalled and it appears my notifications are still repressed.

How do I re-enable text notifications?

Run your text app - it should ask if you want to make it your default text app.
