Unknown Error code during application install: "-24"

Got this error when trying to install an app. Did some Googling and the only solutions have been either a factory reset or deleting a folder, only you have to be rooted.

I'm not rooted so is there any other solution. It's not a big enough deal for a factory reset, so if rooting is the only other option, I'll just deal without the app for now.

Could always root, delete the data, unroot. That's what I'd do in your position.

Doesn't rooting requiring wiping the phone first? That's really what I was trying to avoid; otherwise I'd just do a factory reset and move on.

If your bootloader is locked, yeah it will. I'd recommend using Helium to back up your apps, then reset, then recover. If you've already unlocked the bootloader, you can root without losing data.

If you are getting that error it is an easy fix without wiping storage.

From a root file browser go to root and the /data/data folder.
Look for the folder linked to the app or apps giving that error.
Delete that folder.
The app will then install.

What appears to be happening is the data gets left over and the device thinks it is installed and will not let you install.
Since the app isn't installed you can't uninstall it either.
By deleting that left over data it will allow you to install again.

This will work for any app getting that error.
This is happening with some 4.3 roms.

Must have root.

Thanks for the solution. I had this issue with an app that seemed to uninstall itself. Shortcut was still there though. Couldn't reinstall, but this fixed it! I'm one of 2 users on a Nexus 7 running 4.3, so maybe the multi user facility is playing up...

What happen when you cant find that app to delete? I am using ES File Explore. Im getting the same error when trying to install pandora from the app store.
