Re: Got my bill - I tethered 412 GB last month

Is ripping off the company in the sense that they say so, and that's about it :-(. One person using that much data (generally) has zero negative impact or extra costs associated with it.

Galaxy S4 + iPhone 5

You say toe-may-toe, I say stealing. If you owned a business you'd understand.

Re: Got my bill - I tethered 412 GB last month

He didn't say that it effected the speed. Where did you see that at?

Please see below.. He mentioned it.

I hope Sprint takes away unlimited data and inputs what ATT and Verizon have, maybe the speeds will improve as well as cheaters like you end up elsewhere.

Re: Got my bill - I tethered 412 GB last month

I see that. He didn't say that data hogs lower speed. I took it that maybe Sprint will give more bandwidth and increase our speeds, if they didn't have to worry about cheaters using more than thier share.

Let me brak this down: Sprint estimates it will cost them X to deliver Y amount of data to each person. X(Y) = Z. Z= total operation cost. If everyone's Y was a similar cost, and they can keep Z to a even keel, they can increase our speed. If cheaters who steal bandwidth (yes, it is stealing.), then they have a bigger Y, which raises Z.

You get that now? If you are supposed to pay for hotspot, then grow up and pay for it. Stealing is stealing. He stole a lot of data. I have an issue with my phone bill. They are too high. We are getting ripped off. The solution is not to steal from the companies, that only increases our costs more. Sprint WILL get paid.

I hope the OP gets hit with a HUGE bill, just like he deserves. I hope everyone who steals gets hit with what they deserve. Don't game the system if you can't afford to pay if you get caught.

Re: Got my bill - I tethered 412 GB last month

uh? why have you been using them for 9 years if that is the service they are offering you? I don't get some of you people.. use your heads a little bit.. stop paying monthly bills for a service that sucks.. other carrier options out there.

What am I gonna do... "people"? I'm 10 months into my first data/smartphone contract. Sprint was always good to me before with perks like doubling my minutes when I had an issue ... 15%" loyalty discount. Leave now with a phone I paid just under $300 for (ca adds a $34 green tax ) and pay the ETF? Nope. Sprint's the only carrier that will give me a airave type device so I don't constantly drop in my house (live between 2 two story houses). It all adds up to I'm stuck. Believe me, I HAVE considered ALL my options and continue to do so.
SO... IF YOU DON'T HAVE SOMETHING HELPFUL TO SAY... SHUT UP... sheesh, "I don't get some of you people".

But... That's my point. What bandwidth? They aren't throttling people due to this.. They simply don't have it. That's all my point was. This illegal tethering isn't the cause of their network woes.

Re: Got my bill - I tethered 412 GB last month

I have an update. Due to what those have said in this thread, I was open and honest about my situation with Sprint. I recorded it and will upload to the cloud for those of you to listen. My account is not at risk, but has been flagged. Any usage over 100GB a month will flag my account for closure. Oh well, whatever. My debts must be paid.

I'm still yet waiting to use my unlimited data plan with 3 here in the UK the best thing is they won't cut you off for using too much data. I read their terms and conditions it clearly says unlimited data is up to 1tb so I was like ftw for me

So it's unlimited up to 100GB with Sprint. I've come close but never passed it.

So when you say flagged for closure, what do you mean?

Meaning they read your traffic and want to know why you used so much data. if its being abused they may send you a letter in the mail stating so and cut you off after 30 days giving you enough time to port your number and find a carrier that "meets your needs".

It's the NSA that reads the traffic, Sprint just counts how much of it you use. :p

Not if you use over 100 GB. They are going to watch to see what your doing.. Phone data or tether data. Of course not the actual content of the data.

Still absolutely in shock. I just switched to AT&T Mobile Share (1GB) and decided I'm just going to tether the iPad (since that's included in the plan; FINALLY I CAN USE THE TABLET WHEN IM OUT) to make up for the remaining data the other smartphone leaves(which is an iphone 4).

Oh, it's not free. You, I and all the other Sprint customers pay for you "free"-loaders. And yes, I hope they cut you off.

lol, you dont pay for "free loaders"(who, might i add, are using a feature that comes with the phone, and that carriers shouldn't be charging for anyway. the data you use through your service provider's signal is the same whether you are tethering or not...i.e. if i download 5gb into my phone on an unlimited data plan its the same as if i tethered the same amount into my computer using the phones signal)... your bill stays the same regardless of someone using free tethering. moron.:)

I think he meant the network is hogged down by people like this. I mean sprints network isn't really up to par for large numbers of people on it.
