Unlimited data

im just trying to figure out how much data will i use if i move to verizon, just to make sure im on the right plan

I bought my phone outright just to keep my unlimited data. Since my last phone was barely usable i barely used data when I could just cuz it was unstable. Now Im using a little bit more compared to any previous month. Currently 275Meg . I dont stream anything unless im on wifi. But keeping my plan was somewhat unholy. Some issues with my account and the phone couldnt be activated right there on the spot. It took them about 90 minutes for them to provision my phone for me.

I'm still not use to sucking down that much data. Just a habit i need to break. :)

I got to keep my unlimited while upgrading as well..thought I was special til after reading this thread lol thank God tho since I got this phone I've been burning through data. Pandora, foxfi, and Xbox are to blame.. don't hate Bp

Using WiFi instead of LTE is not the end-all-be-all answer that some here might think.

Believe it or not there are companies that do not permit employees to connect their personal devices to the company network. They do this in order to prevent the network from getting bogged down by non-work related load (streaming audio & video). Other companies allow personal devices to connect to the network but block web sites, etc to preserve network performance.

As more and more companies look to control costs and improve employee productivity, I have no doubt that employee personal devices connected to a work network will come under more and more scrutiny now and in the future.

A previous poster commented that they should not have to suffer decreased performance of the LTE network because of heavy LTE users using bandwidth. The exact same thing could be said of people in a corporate environment using WiFi for their personal devices and the negative impact that has on other users of the corporate network.

Mann spending 600 on a phone thats ridiculous..... But ill probably end up doing that once new blackberry phones comes out or iphone... Depending on how good it is

Full Price on the S3 unless it has changed since 8/26 is 599.99 not 699.99.

VZW store has for 599, Best Buy for 699, but they'll probably price match. I'm going to try to hold my impulses and wait for the new iphone launch so I can at least know its specs...hopefully that will knock another $100 off the price of an S3.

i wouldn't hold my breath for any reduction in msrp of the gs3 anytime soon...

If you have multiple lines on your plan. You can use an upgrade from a different line. Buy the device. Do not activate it in store. Head out of the store. Take your sim card out of your previous 4G device and slip it into the new one. That's what I did to upgrade to the S3 from my nexus. Allowing me to grab the phone at a discounted price

True, probably wishful thinking. If anything I see them on ebay for 450-500 new...positive feedback from these sellers...wondering where they get the phones from if new ones are 600.

Take a look at phones That came out last year, razr, gnex, rezound... Their msrp are still around $600+. Most likely, the gs3 won't drop in retail price anytime soon, and even if it does, don't expect a huge drop, maybe $100ish.

I'm still waiting for the iphone 5 (supposed) announcement so I can at least know its specs.. but I'm already thinking that I'd probably regret it since I'm so used to a rooted, android phone and all the goodies it lets me do...ah must tame my impulse to Buy It Now. LOL

I'm never leaving Verizon. :) I have unlimited data so I will pay full price for the phone I choose (I signed a 2 year contract when the thunderbolt came out)... I'm just thinking out loud about what I use the phone for mostly... such as tethering to my ipad when on road trips (since hotel wifi always blows)...titanium backup.. etc.. looks like the S3 root process is fairly easy so I'd just disable bloatware and do the same stuff i have on my thunderbolt now.

Sprints coverage is bad. My company cell phone was through Sprint. My boss got tired off never being able to reach me, my phone was replaced with a Verizon one. All of our company phones and air cards are being changed over to Verizon now. I could never go with Sprint. I would love to be able to switch to another provider and leave Verizon but there are not many choices out there because no other providers has the coverage that Verizon does :(

I upgraded last night from a POS razr to this sexy G3 and was shocked when they told me that I would have to pay full price to keep my unlimited data. The rep helping me said "you will be fine with the 2G plan" as he checked my data usage for this month...
So I get home and start playing with the phone and I was getting data usage warning..hmmm
Sure enough they were gonna charge me for my previous data usage 15gb

After a quick call to CS I had my unlimited data plan back :D..now sure how or why but I am happy.

Wait a minute... So you had a 15GB usage, and they advised you that you should be fine with the 2GB plan???

That makes no sense!

They probably just looked at his usage only for the current billing cycle, as stated... so the CS person probably just didn't think through and look at a three month average or anything historical.

EDIT: I just noticed he said he'd rec'd a DATA usage warning... so yes, 2GB..NOT.
