My first month I used a little over 18gb and 21gb the second. I have still haven't noticed any throttling. I live in a little town on the edge of a 4G area so at home its weak but still fast. When I go to the closer to the larger city my speeds picks back up and I get 10+mb download speeds. I love it. I got mine in July and paid 75 for mine with some early upgrade and customer loyalty discounts. I love my S3 upgraded from a OG Droid Incredible. It was a massive upgrade. lol.

I just have one question..... How...? What on earth mars and Jupiter are u guys doing to reach those kind of numbers using data..? I think I've used a maximum of about 3gb of data on my phone. I do have a DROID X so i'm obviously not gonna use like some others might, but.. Wow.. 10..25gbs...how..?

Btw not being judgmental or anything, I just really wanna know how you're doing this. Lol.

My best guess would be a lot of streaming music and videos/movies. I personally am only around 2 GB per month, but I like being unlimited so I don't have to worry if for some reason I happen to listen to Pandora a lot one month or something like that.

Another guess is that it is a tethered device that other devices are using for other things than just mobile... I know someone who tethers to an XBox360 and goes through data like crazy...

I use the tether simply so that my kids can use their wi-fi only devices (iPod Touch, etc...). I also use it to take some of the load off my kid's 2GB limited devices when they are in the same location as me. I am at about 5.0GB now, with about a week to go...

Not a huge data usage compared to others...but before tethering I averaged between 1.5GB and 2.0GB...

it has something to do specifically with the GS3. They have been alowing anyone who upgrades to this phone to keep unlimited. It must have something to do with the fact that this phone is on all carriers and they dont want to piss people off and drive them to the same phone on a different carrier.

I'd like to know how you all managed to keep unlimited. I upgraded from an Inc 2 two weeks ago and lost unlimited data.

I use about 18gb. Tether to my nexus 7, iPad and Mac book when I'm not home.. I once used 10gb in 2 days

I'm still on unlimited. I switched in mid July from my Droid 2 after I dropped it and the touch screen went wiggy. I was due for an upgrade but had been holding out for a Note. but that never happened.

Verizon can't and won't throttle 4G. They supposedly would with 3G but I never saw that. I'm personally between 20-30 GB / month on average.

Not entirely true. We will throttle your data speeds if the tower you're currently connected to is experiencing data traffic that is at 99% capacity. This is only temporary as your speeds will return to normal once traffic levels return to normal operating levels

So is Verizon going to throttle sales of the new iPhone?
Once that hits the market towers in some areas may very well be running at 99% capacity for the vast majority of the day, every day. Not only will Verizon have unhappy LTE android customers they will have unhappy LTE iPhone customers as well.

Seriously, it should be interesting to see what kind of impact a mass influx of new 4G LTE phones will have on the Verizon network and how Verizon handles the situation. I sure hope their network and personnel rise to the challenge and shine. If not, things could get very, very ugly for them from a PR standpoint. Should also be interesting to see how Verizon's competitors handle the influx of LTE model phones as well. Time will tell I suppose.

To date, I have only experienced very, very short periods of time with slower LTE speed. Even at the slower speed it is 3-4 times faster than 3G was. No doubt these brief slow downs were related to tower capacity issues.

Verizon makes a clear distinction that they do not throttle, only network optimize. Of course, it is really just semantics, but just wanted to clarify in case anyone didn't know.

Stream netflix , hulu, Pandora, use fox-fi to stream same on your tablet. I live an hour from where I work. Just Pandora back and forth to work 4 days a week is two gigs.....add in TV or movies...?

You guys should be throttled, theres no reason that the rest of us should have slower speeds or no LTE at all because you dont want to use wi-fi. I blame it on verizon though selling more phones with data then they have bandwith for. We should all be able to use what we pay for without effecting others.

Idk if you have unlimited i feel like you should be able to use 25 + gigs of data without having to worry about being throttled. Since you do pay for unlimited. And if verizon doesnt like it, it is their fault offering it to the mass consumers in the first place. I have unlimited and i rarely go over 3 gigs but i have no problem with people using what they pay for. What i dont like it verizon forcing people into tiered data plan when you do a upgrade. That i think is crap since people who does use over 10 gig would have to purchase phones for full praice which can be $$$.

That's ridiculous. You think Verizon people actually sat in a conference room and thought up that scheme? They're the least to be worried about a completely arbitrary possibility IMO. The variance would never be significant enough. And other carries have throttle policies in general anyway, and there are plenty of variances and various mysteries in the whole throttle or unlimited data topic. Just saying

Both places said that if I paid full retail for the S3 ($700), I will keep my unlimited data... I went into there thinking it was $600 (which I may have agreed to do), but $700... I don't know yet.. need to really think about it since I'm still happy with my t-bolt... but I refuse that tiered data crap.

I can't use the wifi at my work, and I stream XM or internet radio there all the time... that or when I travel, I tether to my ipad for netflix... if verizon tries to pull something and NOT give me unlimited data for paying a ridiculous $700 for a bleeping phone, I will tell them to buzz off and get virgin mobile unlimited for half the price.

I average about 4-5gb a month and with my employer discount on VZW, I pay about $72 a month for 500-ish minutes (rarely use more than 300 a month) and unlimited data.. getting this tiered crap at 5gb will bring me to about 100/m.. f that!!!!

On LTE itself I'm not sure TBH. My signal is LTE most of the time at work, but it goes to 3G randomly (maybe 10-15% of the time?).. I'd say from Monday to Friday away from my home wifi, I stream audio about 2-3 hours a day on VZW data. I mainly use the SiriusXM app, TuneIn Radio for my talk shows, and random shoutcast music stations for my metal \m/.

In addition to that streaming, I check emails, social networking apps, and browse the web during breaks but I can't imagine those use that much data. I don't do torrents or newsgroups on the phone (that's what my home internet is for).. but I absolutely HATE the idea of non-unlimited data for my phone. It's bad enough that txt msgs are insanely expensive... I remember when I started college in the early 2000s.. unlimited txt msgs from VZW were $3/month!!!!!!!!.. of course there was no mobile web for me then, but I hate the fact that all the major companies are pulling this tiered BS. It shouldn't matter if I do 5gb or 500gb.. unlimited is unlimited.

I don't travel often (few weeks a year), but I like the option of tethering and that might be 1-2gb per week extra if the hotel's wifi is garbage.
