I would like the OTA to install directly from VZW so that I can assess how the OTA update works for my phone. After I do that, I will flash a custom ROM.
I just did and my pictures are gone. I thought that wasn't supposed to happen?Install wugs and unroot.
FYI to anyone planning on doing this - Wug's toolkit wipes your phone and doesn't make a backup automatically when you unroot. I lost everything on my phone.:'(No, you won't lose your pictures if you unroot.
Thanks, I asked on several threads and no one suggested that I do that and I wouldn't know how to do that without someone telling me how anyhow. Everyone suggested that I use Wugs and told me that I wouldn't lose my pictures. You only had to fastboot flash the stock recovery, which you can grab out of the factory images available from Google.

Thanks for the warning, just trying to warn others.
I opened up Wugs toolkit and clicked on flash stock and unroot. There was no option to just flash the stock without unrooting. One of the first things I said was to flash the recovery image via Wugs.

I think the toolkit should warn you that your phone is going to be wiped before it wipes your phone.
I hear you but the toolkit should warn people that the phone will be wiped.I'm sorry you lost your info. Chalk it up to needing to backup everything when you mess with your device.

Is there any way to try to recover the images if they haven't been overwritten yet?
I turned on backup just now. How would I know if I had turned it on before?Check to see if they aren't synced with your Google account

Thanks, if that is something I had to set up then I didn't do it.Check Picasa and Google account on the Web. All of my pictures sync there and to dropbox.

Can you please explain how to flash the recovery image only? Thanks.See bolded parts.... The recovery image was all you needed to flash. Flashing back to stock, as you did, is completely different and not what dmmarck said to do at all.

Do you think it is unreasonable to expect Wug's toolkit to give you a warning that your device will be wiped before it wipes you device? My opinion its your device, and you should be taking your own precautions to protect your data before attempting anything with Rooting & Hacking.
