One more question. Will I be able to use visual voicemail? I'm hoping I made the right choice by going with the unlocked version.
Yup they have an app in the store

What about messaging? This will be my first unlocked Samsung phone and I'm using it on t-mobile (planning on jumping ship to Verizon soon). Which messaging app is the most ideal for use on an unlocked note 20 ultra and Tmobile?
If you're using unlocked on T-Mobile Google's Messaging app will give you RCS if that's important to you. Samsung's won't.
You can just download messager from google. It will work just fine for unlocking devices.
So is there a version of Google messaging that works with RCS on unlocked devices? You can just download messager from google. It will work just fine for unlocking devices.

So if I use the Samsung messenger on the unlocked phone, I won't get rcs? Kind of a letdown because the Samsung messenger allows me to hide the content of an incoming message on the pop-up. Google's app wont allow me to do that. They already updated to Google RCS several months ago. It works great.

What benefits would I get if I'm using a tmobile branded phone and rcs on the samsung app as opposed to the unlocked version? You get Samsung own version of RCS, where you can see other typing if your friend also using Samsung. This can also be disabled if you wish.
Are not. Although I accidently said are if you further read my statement it's clear to see I said there are no issues using unlocked on T-Mobile. Guess I shouldn't have replied to the thread so early in the morning without proof reading my reply lol.
It really comes down to preferences. Some people like internal storage so they go with say 512 and don't use external storage like an SD card.
I have 20GB of music and another 80GB of movies on an 256GB SD Card that I just switch back and forth between my old phone and any new phone I get.
Then I also have a exact backup of my Galaxy S20+ on the SD card so I can restore that backup to the Note 20 Ultra when it comes on Wednesday![]()
how to you put a backup on your card then use that to upload to new phone?I have S20 Ultra and am getting my Note 20 ultra tomorrow.I usually do fresh start on new phone .
