Unlocked or T-Mobile

What about messaging? This will be my first unlocked Samsung phone and I'm using it on t-mobile (planning on jumping ship to Verizon soon). Which messaging app is the most ideal for use on an unlocked note 20 ultra and Tmobile?

If you're using unlocked on T-Mobile Google's Messaging app will give you RCS if that's important to you. Samsung's won't.

You can just download messager from google. It will work just fine for unlocking devices.

Where has the notion that a universal Unlocked phone, gives Problems working on carriers?

I had verizon to sell me a unlocked phone. Once I paid the contract off.
When I paid it off. They said I would have to get. a sims other than verizon and put in the phone to unlock it with the code.
Problem was all the software was still on Verizon.
And nobody would flash that so I could use it on another carrier.

I've been using Universal Unlocked phones and not had a problem going from one carrier to another.
What I lost was some of the bloatware that the carrier puts on the phone.

I get updates before a lot of carriers sends it out.

They already updated to Google RCS several months ago. It works great.
So if I use the Samsung messenger on the unlocked phone, I won't get rcs? Kind of a letdown because the Samsung messenger allows me to hide the content of an incoming message on the pop-up. Google's app wont allow me to do that.

You get Samsung own version of RCS, where you can see other typing if your friend also using Samsung. This can also be disabled if you wish.

You are right.
A samsung phone works on Google.
Google apps workes\\'s on a unlocked phone just like they do a carrier phone.
a universal unlocked phone worked on all the carriers.
When you get your phone.
Ask the people that setup the phone for you. Transfer the data from one phone to the other.
To show you the apps and to make sure the phone will work on wifi calling so you feel better.
If a app ain't there. Download it while you are there.

Seems like a lot of people are scared of a universal unlocked phone.

A carrier phone is a phone the carrier ordered and has it locked to their network.
So you can't go anywhere else.

What benefits would I get if I'm using a tmobile branded phone and rcs on the samsung app as opposed to the unlocked version?

Rookie!
Are not. Although I accidently said are if you further read my statement it's clear to see I said there are no issues using unlocked on T-Mobile. Guess I shouldn't have replied to the thread so early in the morning without proof reading my reply lol.

It really comes down to preferences. Some people like internal storage so they go with say 512 and don't use external storage like an SD card.

I have 20GB of music and another 80GB of movies on an 256GB SD Card that I just switch back and forth between my old phone and any new phone I get.
Then I also have a exact backup of my Galaxy S20+ on the SD card so I can restore that backup to the Note 20 Ultra when it comes on Wednesday :-)

how to you put a backup on your card then use that to upload to new phone?I have S20 Ultra and am getting my Note 20 ultra tomorrow.I usually do fresh start on new phone .

You just use Samsung Smart Switch and have to store the back up on the SD Card
