For some reason my phone shows I have an unread notification. However I have went through every message and it is all read. How can I make it go away without deleting my messaging history?

Also for some reason, unbeknownst to me, my email (not gmail, but the email w/ the red @ symbol on the white envelope), also occasionally leaves the unread #'s showing... even though I've opened & read all the emails. Have never figured out why. Just an odd delay on the icon, even though its already synced with the server.

It has been this way for over a week.

If you have some factory installed apps disabled they may be the culprit... will they go away after restarting the phone?

No. They don't go away after restarting the phone.

I've had a somewhat similar experience with my email. I would get the "ghost" notifications, open the email folder, then the notifications would go away until the next push cycle. The only way I have found around this issue is that when it happens, I go into my email account on a computer and "read" the latest emails, and the notifications go away. Don't really like this work around, but since it doesn't happen very often I can live with it. Not sure this will work for you, but you might try it. Good luck.

I had a similar issue a while back while factory apps were diabled is why I asked.
What I did was go thru and enable everything and do a trial and error type deal.

I had it the other way. A negative 1. I deleted the account and re-added it. Sorted.

I reenabled the apps. Cleared all cache on my phone. And rebooted. Its still showing.

Im having the same problem, i see that you had this a couple months ago, did you ever solve it?
any help would be great- its so annoying!

this works!- go to application manager, then scroll across to all apps, then go to 'badge provider' and clear data. then restart the phone.
