Unroot unsuccessful?

I rooted my tbolt to add VPN software for work. Then they came out with the gingerbread update and my phone went into a death-boot loop, until I unrooted it (showed all the signs of being unrooted correctly) and reloaded with an updated rom.

Now it keeps nagging me to load the .9 update but it keeps failing the download, so I assume that the unroot wasn't really completed sucessfully.

I gave up on the VPN software so it doesn't require being rooted anymore, but I want the nags to go away and really don't care if it's rooted anymore. And because of a busy life don't have time to research all the modded rom options.

So I'm looking for some opinions of the following opinions:
- Unroot again and let it take the .9 and stock updates from here on
- load a hacked stock rom
- load a rom tailored to my purpose, which is mostly texting, taking pics and vids, and emailing (for this option, post the name of the rom you'd suggest)

Once you're rooted, you should never unroot unless for a warranty exchange. You can easily download the rooted 2.11.605.9 rom and flash it. Now you have the latest stock firmware and won't have to worry about the annoying update nagging you. I'll post where to get 2.11.605.9. Hang on.

Edit: this is the one I used.
