Hi, I wanted to upgrade to a custom ROM Android M/6. Ideally, but I don't want the bugs, unsupported features, etc. Also I am not sure whether I am able to find the correct custom ROM for snapdragon.

Samsung won't allow me to upgrade my unlocked Note 4 because it was rooted stock firmware. After unrooting Samsung still says it is rooted, I do have TWRP recovery. Now I need to flash firmware using Odin, it seems!

I don't really understand the PDA and CSC codes. I know I want BTU for unlocked UK region, I just worry if I install the wrong ROM for my device, exynos instead of snapdragon it will brick my phone.

Which PDA/CSC version do I need for my Note 4 (snapdragon)?

Currently downloading two different stock roms now. I looked for Android 6 for Note 4 but could only find Korea version.

I am currently on:

Android 5.0.1
Baseband N910FXXU1BOC4
Build LRX22C.N910FXXU1BOC5

Not available for the 910F as yet. Exynos devices only. Keep an eye on the UK and Germany on SamMobile.

TWRP recovery isn't stock. (Anything not stock is called "rooted" to avoid having to figure out which of 20 different modifications it really is.)

As for Odin, read [Samsung] How to flash Stock ROM via ODIN - it's a step by step pictorial guide to flashing a ROM using Odin (except for the "sit and stare at the phone for 10 minutes while it rebuilds itself" part - which is the worst part - flashing a ROM is more boring than a plane flight in which the only movie is one you hated the first time, so do it when there's something to watch on TV or you have a book to read).

You'll have to wait until a ROM for the Note 4 snapdragon is available. Any Note 4 snapdragon ROM. If you flash KitKat, it'll almost immediately start nagging you to do updates, and you'll get 1 a day until you're up to date. If you flash 6 you're almost done. (If there's a 6.0.1 for the Note 4, it'll install it, but that version - the latest - has some major bugs on some phones [I don't know about the 4, but I'm sure there are posts in our Note 4 section and on the Note 4 section of XDA Forums if there are any problems (like not being able to connect to wifi)].)

I have a UK, unlocked, Note 4 BTU. I was running stock 5.1 rom. I downloaded the German DBT MM 6.1 and installed using Odin. Everything running smooth, all apps and settings remained.

@bigwhite would this work on an itv (Italy) unlocked note 4?

If you head over to note 4 xda forums someone has posted a mega link to a multi csc mm rom, which includes itv. This will work for you. Ill post the link for you

Thank you for the help.

I haven't sorted this yet, I've been too busy and tired. Sometimes, I wish I never bought my Note 4 because of the Snapdragon variant, it is slower than exynos in so many ways and some apps really struggle with it, this was why I was hoping custom ROMs would have sorted this by tuning code with optimisations. It is the kind of experience that makes me want to never buy anything with the Snapdragon name on it, I surely won't. Note 3 runs so much faster with apps, benchmarks and real worlds tests...I prefer real world first hand experience of using apps.

So it seems my best bet is to go back to stock and this means going back to stock recovery as well. I just have to find that somewhere now. My Note 4 (or Samsung update server) told me to use Kies and it would flash it all for me back to stock. That was not true as I found out, having TWRP recovery means I also need to unroot and also remove recovery...for some reason I wrongly thought Kies would do that for me. I just need to find time to set aside to do this. Thanks again!

Use odin to install stock rom. You just just need to download the appropriate ro for your device. Plenty of tutorials on internet

Thanks guys, yes doing that now. I just realised the last download failed...5 more hours in the slow lane of downloading to try again.

Samsung Updates Latest Firmware - LIVE!

Once I have v5.1.1 (BTU) Hopefully It will then update to v6 I only see v6 for a few countries on the update site above but read that Note 4 is OTA v6 for all unlocked Note 4 now so. Then I'll root again and get all apps restored.

I hate Sammobile because of the slow downloads or any of those sites that host the firmware on slow download servers.

I usually use Samsung Kies to restore my phones to stock. It only takes a few minutes to download the firmware.
