Update coming to HTC EVO 4G LTE

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

Yes, it should. I'm attempting to update to the final version and missed the notification on my phone asking for permission to use USB debugging. I had to check yes before the update would start.

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

Just did the update, and I am loving it at the moment. Haven't noticed anything that would be a negative.

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

I'm having all of the same driver/usb issues I had last time trying to install the RUU. Jason had me manually boot into the bootloader, and for some reason I am not able to do it by turning off the phone and then holding the power button and the volume+. Any ideas?

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

Dang, when I tried updating it went as far as to restart my phone while it 'waited for bootloader' and then my PC gave me an error saying that there was a problem with the drivers. My phone was stuck on the HTC logo and I thought I may have bricked it but a long press/hold of the power button restarted it.

Any tips? I'm on Windows 8.1

Is there any difference between the private email sent out for the update and the new official link for the update? I just updated from the email and saw I had a new email for the official update right after I updated.

Same.

Haven't been able to check to see if data roaming is fixed. Will have to wait until tomorrow. But the 3 live wallpapers, holo spiral, bubbles, and phase beam still don't work. No biggie, but Jason and Mo knew they didn't work, and they aren't fixed.

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

The only thing this "final" update apparently added was support for running the RUU on Windows 8. And for those that were on the original trial, this combines the two file update into one.

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

For anyone having trouble with the USB connection, what I did was completely uninstall HTC sync then reinstalled it. My desktop has about 10 different usb ports and I realized some of them must read better than others because when I booted into bootloader, using a port on top of my case, I was hoping for the installing drivers dialog to come up. I then switched to a front facing port and got it to install a driver for the ADB to work. For me instead of installing a device for Android Phone I got another driver with acs interface. I can't remember the name now because it's on my desktop with windows 7 64. I then rebooted from bootloader and started the install of the RUU. Just make sure you have debugging enabled and I chose disk drive instead of HTC sync on the phone. The actual wipe and install took about 15 mins. Everything is smooth as butter no slow downs. I downloaded a third party task manager and I'm only using 183 instead of the 700+ we used to see on task manager.

Finally got it installed again using my daughters windows 7 computer. Hopefully there's data roaming again......

Wow, they completely blew it with the new dialer. I cannot believe how much functionaly and simplicity they killed with this "upgrade". I am a guy that is constantly on the move coordinating multiple jobsites which involves a ton of phone calls. I used to rave to people about how great the dialer was in sense 4+. After two days of sense 5 I had to install Dialer One instead. The sense 5 dialer is downright dangerous in a moving vehicle!

Dialer One solves the search issues nicely but I still have that tiny little text telling me the name on incoming calls.

It also kind of sucks not being able to use the stock dialer when they had it nailed before.

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

the one question I have is with the update did it make hangouts the default text app ,or do you have a choice between the two.(hangouts or stock) I love the stock app because of the secure folder and password protection

I use the stock, and didn't notice a choice, before or after the update.

You do have a choice, I chose to use hangouts as my default app for texting. In can easily change back to stock. I updated my phone last night to the final update version of 4.3 and Sense 5.
