Update did not fix data issue - replacement phone on the way

so with just a couple of options, AND with several techs also involved on a couple of calls, NO ONE but you and possibly a select group of geeks, would know the secret of how to accomplish that? I doubt it seriously. and I won't take you seriously, since you haven't given me anything of value to consider as a possible cause of the problem

Just went back and re read what you wrote and you definitely have something odd happening.

You have it backwards however, it works this way for everyone except you and a select few others. I would bet something is wonky.

Did you select autosync when setting up your google account associated with the android market?

Android Market supports multiple gmail accounts, are you selecting the right one and are you signed into that account on your phone AND on the market?|

Every time I load a new rom, do a factory reset I just sign into my gmail account during initial setup, select autosync (it is there, and not very obvious) and sit tight while I wait for my apps to install. You know, make a sandwich or something. Give it a minute etc.

Lol at customer44.. The definition of troll. If you're not going to be helpful you have no reason to post.

Btw did some research and it looks like its 50/50. If you open your market app before the restore begins it may stop the auto restore.

My apps always restore themselves before I even touch the market. Just a suggestion.

I have just one gmail acct.

yes, I chose autosync

I waited a LOOONG time and nothing came back to the phone, so I had to do it manually. Twice on my launch day phone. Now I have a replacement phone and it didn't get the apps or settings either.

Thats soo odd. It just reinstalls everything without asking every time for me. Must be a bionic thing. :( I will root my wifes phones soon (when she feels like it) and I will report back. :D

I'd say more like a "pisser". :)

My old optimus v autosynced, but I lost it and switched to an incredible 2 (luckily I haven't had to reset my bionic). I had to factory reset the Dinc2 about 7 times and it would never autosync. The only thing I changed between the two phones was activating 2-step authorization on my google account. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.

hmmmm i have 2 step setup on the phone that doesnt autosync and i dont have it on the one that does autosync.

on the 2 step one the option to restore isnt even there. on the non 2step it is there everytime.

My refurb arrived yesterday but unfortunately the replacement has the same data dropping issues as my day 1 phone did, even after a factory reset. I'm not sure how I should proceed. I really like this phone and have invested in extra batteries, cases, etc...

Since my replacement device didn't work out I decided to go a different route this time around. I'm on the phone with Motorola and I am going to send the phone in to one of their repair centers to have it looked over. The down side to this is that they say it will take 5-7 days but since I just got my refurb replacement yesterday I can use that while I send my original device in for repair. I think this (hopefully) will be a better route than continuing to request replacements from Verizon - because I truly believe that the Bionic is the best phone available today (when the data is working!)

I have an idea that maybe people can try if they are still having issues after the update. I have no problems since I took the update but I factory reset before and I am 43V3R rooted, with frozen bloat.

I just unfroze all the bloat on my phone to see if it was a rouge app causing the data drops maybe...and guess what, I got my first crazy data drop since the OTA. So if your are having issues after the update, are rooted and a factory reset doesn't help...try freezing (don't uninstall) bloat like vcast, etc.

I am not sure if this is the true issue, but it is worth a try.

For the record, it would automatically re-install apps on my droid X... Just sayin'...

Hey Bionic users, I have some news for you:

I had a Bionic but had too many problems with it. I called on Dec 26 to troubleshoot but when it wouldn't work tech support said he would send me another. I declined another Bionic and demanded a different model. He agreed to send me a Rezound. Rezound is here and I love it. I had to call vz yesterday to set up my new phone and made small talk with "Marissa" while email set up. Long story short, she either let it slip or purposefully said that vz will no longer be sending out replacement Bionics due to their many problems but would instead send something comparable.

So if you Bionic users are having serious issues, take that to vz when you next call.

Good luck.
