Update error

Till now have been trying to update via normal method. No luck. Have unlocked and rooted my nexus. Could that be the reason?

Also, battery life have been only sad even after 3months of use. Charging daily although have not been gaming or web browsing actively. But have been using a launcher though.

rooting wont disable the ability to get ota update. but if you have modded and installed kernel it will fail

But still I got the error dead android sign whenever I tried to update. Advice....

Are you trying to install the update that takes you to 4.2.2 from 4.2.1? I had to unroot and do a "Factory data reset" before my Nexus 4 successfully flashed the update. However, when I installed the update on my wife's Galaxy Nexus, it flashed the update without error, and it didn't even lose root. Don't ask me why the difference; I have no clue!
