Update on page 3: MR2 vs. MR2.5 radio -- WIFI issues

Re: MR2 vs. MR2.5 radio -- WIFI issues

Sorry to dig up an old thread (of mine), but just wanted to provide another update...

Last week, I went ahead and decided to install BAMF 3.0 RC 4.9. Since I was already running 1.8.6 with the MR2 OTA radio, I figured that least I no longer have to worry about installing new radios, and if I didn't like the ROM, I could easily go back via nandroid.

First off, I REALLY liked the Sense 3.0, and pretty much everything about the ROM...I was very happy with it...until I noticed that the I am still having the exact same issue with the WIFI. Basically, when connected to wifi, my data appears to just "shut off" when the screen goes dark. If, for example, I send myself an email, my phone never gets the message until I wake the screen up. It's not just email either, pretty much any app that was scheduled to update doesn't until I wake the phone up and manually check.

I pretty much need to use wifi at work (in a building with poor cell signal), and I also need to be sure I'm getting real-time push notifications on my device, so unfortunately after running the sense 3.0 ROM I had to bite the bullet and go back to 1.8.6 (Froyo) after only 72 hours on Gingerbread.

Does anyone else running the GB ROMs notice this at all? It seems weird that I've not tried 2 different ROMs and 3 different radios (and several CPU settings as well), and just can't get my data connection to stay awake.

Oh well, guess I'll wait for the next "official" GB version to come out for the TB, and hope that ROMs built off of that build work better on my device.

Seems to be a common issue with some GB ROM installs. I was actually running into the same issue, so I understand your frustration. Try downloading 'Advanced Wifi Lock' (Free!) from the Market. Someone suggested this on another forum, so I decided to test it out myself. It didn't really seem to work the first day, but after the first day, my Wifi hasn't shut off since then. And my battery life now: Phenomenal!!

It worked for me; it could work for you. Definitely worth a shot!

I know you're not a noob, but I'm still going to ask. Did you set the wifi sleep to 'never'?

I have the same issue running the official MR2 and the recently leaked radio. WiFi set to never sleep.
