I am on AT&T running 4.4.2 hearing that Verizon released 4.4.4 for the Samsung Galaxy S5. I'm curious if anyone on AT&T with the Samsung Galaxy S5 has 4.4.4 yet?

Android Central is pretty quick to post when users see it. I'm on Sprint but I tweeted @Sprint and got a lame reply from @SprintCare that it isn't up to the carrier, it's up to the manufacturer. However, when I asked isn't it Google->Samsung->Carriers for the flow, they validated that's the flow for the most part. They never really acknowledged that that meant carriers had it since VZW is releasing it already for the same phone. The other carriers must be taking their time testing and customizing (hopefully no extra bloat).

Thank you. Just seems like the retailers take their time releasing the updates.

in the past, Verizon was tail end charlie with updates, and sometimes never gave one.

Shocked me to learn they were first out of the box this time.

It's disappointing the carriers have the releases and take their time or need to take their time to make sure everything is correct. One would think that the developer(s) would create the software on a generic platform, then have other developers make it specific for each carrier.

In my opinion, I think the carriers and manufacturers should be working closer together before releasing anything.

They're just adding bloatware and figuring out how they can charge for things...gotta get every penny. They do need to make sure it's all compatible with their specific services though too.

It saddens me the carriers cannot get this done when it's in their hands for months.

What exactly would we be getting with this 4.4.4 update? If its not anything that will make a huge difference I'm cool with waiting on android L.

Unless it restores my SD card functionality, I'll pass. I'm having a hard enough time trying to root the phone as it is (as in, after the latest updates, it's now impossible.)

According to the other folks here (I don't root) the last little half update killed some rooted setups. I think maybe that's what AT&T is trying to accomplish. But I say hey, if you own the phone then have at it. As long as you still pay for their services then why give a damn? Oh that's right, because everyone who sees your phone MUST know that you have AT&T. :) I may sound sarcastic but I hate greedy bastardos.

Hey, I don't think you're sarcastic.....LOL. If this was a BlackBerry, I'd know how to 'root' it I think you called it....lol. I'm not even going to try wit Android. I'm too old and tired to learn.

Just frustrated that the carriers have the updates months before the release and they either can't get it out on time or "get 'er done". Be nice if the could get it done and released in a reasonable amount of time. I don't care who gets it out first, though I understand why the carriers want to get it out first.

I know how to root I just don't want to. I'm on a Next plan so the phone isn't officially mine yet. Blackberries I do have experience with leaked versions.

Agreed. I'd have my S5 Active rooted right away if I didn't get it through NEXT. I always root all my phones, but this one will have to wait until it's paid off. Though, once 18 months comes around, I'll probably trade it for another phone.

Yes, and a little more shock resistant too... Oh and forget wireless charging....

Yeah, no wireless charging and also no USB 3.0. Its also a tiny bit heavier, since it has like a built on case. Other than that, it's pretty much the same.
