[UPDATED 12/30/2012][Sprint Only]UnRoot and Return to stock

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Hi, I rooted my phone with odin and clockwork mod, I did not add any custom rom all I did was just root so that I could use the freewifither app. Does this mean all i have to do is flash the unroot file through odin and that should unroot and put my cellphone back to how it first was unrooted, and they would not be able to tell (no root counts) I ask this as I may be exchanging for a new phone soon

You would have to do the triangle away as well.... but yes... from what I understand you are correct.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Okay, so basically I just have to follow the directions on the first page of this post, and that should do it?

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Yeah... I have done this quite a few times. :D

You may even be able to fix your backup by renaming it without the spaces. One other thing you should know about backups. CWM and TWRP backups are not compatible with each other.

Fortunately I have done a ton of reading and did know that and have separate nandroid backup folders saved. I've yet to use CWM on this phone although I used it a bunch for my original evo. Thanks again so much for all of your help and I plan on giving it a go with the renamed backup. Hopefully it'll go well this time :)

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

I did this method and it removed root but my device state is still modified under settings > about?

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Samsung must have done more stuff. Perhaps an updated version of triangle away.

TriangleAway is fully updated on my phone, I could use the "Allow tracker to run" feature which the app says MAY fix it (or change bootloader to custom), but I just removed the root needed to do this. Re-root, run TriangleAway and allow tracker, then unroot again with this method?

I am not sure. I currently have a flash count of 20 and could care less. Rooting the gs3 does not void any warranty with Sprint. They will not work on it while rooted though. You should be fine.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

[SUP][/SUP]Hello, so if I have TWRP, can I still use your method on page 1 and retain TWRP?

Update: It did not. However, is my phone still rooted or did I just unroot it if I did not do the triangle app?

This it's a return to stock thread. You're unrooted with stock recovery. Just like the op says. Don't understand where the confusion is coming from...

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

It should... however ib have never had to deal with Sprint by returning a phone.

Well, i purchased the phone from best buy and have a warranty with them if the phone breaks they replace it, its broken screen, but idk if they check for rooted access...which is why i think i should unroot

Oh ok, I thought the triangle app would unroot it but I see now. Idk it was 1am when I was reading this, lol thanks for saving my phone.
Back to rooting it! Thanks again sir.

i've followed the instructions and ive tried this four times, it gets to the "setupconnection"part and then after a few minuets is says "complete write operation failed" why wont it work for me? -sprint galaxy S3

Are your drivers installed correctly? Is your phone being recognized by Odin? Do you have com and a number in the id com block?

Re: [UPDATED][Sprint Only]UnRoot and Return to stock

everything went perfect but it wont go pass the samsung galaxy s3 screen after it rebooted. Any idea?

Go into stock recovery and do a factory reset. Then reboot.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

I don't know why I'm having so much trouble right now, but I am for some reason. My phone says that I have an Android system update. I click restart & install thinking that will get rid of it asking me, but I'm still getting the constant reminders. Where do I go to find this update and how do I go about installing it? I just want the notification to go away.
