UPDATED: Announcement on September 29th. Pre-Order on October 13th?

Re: RUMOR: Release for both Nexi on September 29th?

it's a free for all, total **** show ... I hope this year is different. but if you want one day 1, be prepared to be on the second (and I mean that literally) it goes on sale.

what's frustrating is you'll have it in the shopping cart, go to check out and it'll disappear. or you'll have to hit F5 literally 400-500 times.

best advice I can give, use your desktop or laptop to order. place it as fast as possible, and if it doesn't go through, DON'T WAIT FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN. just order it again ... and again ... and again.

also, be here cause surely something will go wrong and somebody will have a work around and will share it with us.

personally, I'm not dealing with that aggravation anymore, not for the LG version. of the Hauwei version gets me more excited than I'll be right there with you!

good luck
Yeah, that's what I'd like to avoid. In the past they've just done surprise releases and I hate that. I just want a set time that's at least a day ahead, so I'll know when to try to buy one.

I'll be at work and miss it probably. Probably might wait for some reviews though.

Re: UPDATED: Announcement for both Nexi on September 29th

I doubt it's the 29th only because the first few leaks or not all about release dates for Nexus smartphones have been wrong.

Re: UPDATED: Announcement for both Nexi on September 29th

I am seeing info that the Pre-Orders could start on October 13th, which is exactly 2 weeks after the announcement.
This, of course, could change in the coming weeks.

Recap of Nexus phone timelines:

Nexus One: December 12, 2009 (confirmed); January 5, 2010 (released)
Nexus S: December 6, 2010 (announced); December 16, 2010 (released)
Galaxy Nexus: October 19, 2011 (announced); November 17, 2011 (released)
Nexus 4: October 29, 2012 (announced); November 13, 2012 (released)
Nexus 5: October 31, 2013 (announced, pre-ordering started)
Nexus 6: October 15, 2014 (announced); October 29, 2014 (pre-ordering started)

Less than 2 weeks away and no Google confrimation/announcement of the event? What lead time to an event is normally given?

Re: UPDATED: Announcement for both Nexi on September 29th

awww yisss!

That's great timing for me. Shortly after that, there's Microsoft's Lumia even on October 6. Then I can finally make a decision between Moto X Pure, Nexus 5x, and Lumia 950/XL (so long as MS doesn't screw it up with horrible pricing).

Right now, still leaning toward the Moto X (mostly for the SD expansion and bigger screen), but if the 5X comes in at the right price, it would be hard to ignore.

It's definitely a good time to be in the market for a phone with all of these strong offerings. I've already ruled out the Moto X Pure Edition due to its size, but the Nexus 5, Lumia 950, and iPhone 6s are on my radar. I'm currently "renting" an iPhone 6 until my 6s comes next week but I still haven't made up my mind.

Titanium Grey 32 GB 6P for me.

where'd u see the official colors? I know what to expect, but haven't seen anything specific like titanium gray ... and I wonder if the front will have color this year instead of all black. I plan on using a thin case with it (plus of get black so doesn't affect me personally) so any color wouldn't be seem except for when I let it breath around the house.

I'm getting pretty excited about the 5x. I'm ready to swap out my S5 and wouldn't mind trying "pure" Android for awhile. Plus now that vzw stopped subsidizing phones, I need something more affordable. Speaking of which, do y'all think these new Nexuses will work on Verizon? I've got my fingers crossed, it seems like big red has lately become more accepting of non-verizon devices.

In my opinion, Nexus 5X can't capture the magic of the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Not only is the 5X rumoured to be more expensive yet again, but more to the point, it's pretty large. 5.2" but with bezels that make it almost identical in size to the Moto X Play which has a 5.5" display. I have already tried the latter and returned it because it was too large for my liking. It would have been perfect had they just kept the overall size of the original Nexus 5. Because Google has abandoned small phone lovers this year I have no choice but to gravitate over to Sony and the fantastic new Z5 Compact.

I have been a hardcore Nexus fan with the 4 and 5, but Google derailed completely last year and this year they're still off course somewhat. I don't mean to wish they deny big-screen lovers the big phones they deserve. But I want choice and Google isn't giving me a 5" or under option. It's a shame. I'm reluctantly no longer a diehard Nexus fan.

Last leak I saw, the size of the new 5 will be pretty much identical to the S5 which I'm used to. I know it's not for everyone but fortunately I'm a tall guy with relatively big hands. My brother just got a Moto X and has had a Note in the past. Now those seem way too big for my tastes.

Nexus 5 (5.0") - 137.9 x 69.2mm

Nexus 5X (5.2") - 146.9 x 72.9mm

Moto X Play (5.5") - 148.0 x 75.0mm

S5 (5.1") - 142.0 x 72.5mm

S6 (5.1") - 143.4 x 70.5mm

I just think that the 5X gets too close to the Moto X Play for comfort, whilst having a smaller screen. I'm a tiny person overall (5.5") so also naturally have small hands. But it wasn't really the lack of one-handed use that put me off the Moto X Play, but the noticeable larger bulk in my pockets. Just wasn't as comfortable to carry around as previous phones.

I wish that Google went with Sony's strategy. Three phones. One small, one medium, one large. Then literally everyone wins.

I am hoping a we get more leaked images of Nexus 6x. Leaks so far on the Nexus 6x haven't give a real good idea of what the device looks like. The Nexus 5x leaks painted good picture what expected design wise for the 5x.

Can you link where that information is coming from? I remember that @OnLeaks suggested those dimensions over a month ago with the idea (at that time) that the 5X was going to be a metal phone. Obviously things have changed a bit. Likewise, I don't recall anyone else independently confirming those dimensions. @OnLeaks himself was mindful enough to indicate that they were "rough" dimensions for the phone.
