Updated facebook app now really bad battery drain on S7/6p

So I updated the facebook app like last week and noticed that the battery was draining stupid quick on my unlocked samsung galaxy S7. I looked at the battery stats and it showed that the facebook app was utilizing the majority of the battery. To be clear I rarely use facebook. Went into data usage to see if it was using my data in the background but it wasn't. So I switched back to my Nexus 6P updated the facebook app and am getting the same battery drain issue. Both devices are almost always on wifi at home and at work. I was wondering if anyone else is experience the same effects and if you guys had any recommendations..

Hi,

Try uninstalling Facebook. Then enter recover mode and do a wipe of the Cache Partition. Then reboot and see if it fixes the problem. Hope this helps!

PS: Cache wipe will not delete any important data, or settings.
