Updating with root?

Hey I'm just wondering if I can update my lgog (when there is an update) while having root access. Just so you know, I'm asking cause many sources (phone arena is one of them I think) say that the optimus g will be getting kit Kat this summer

generally you have to unroot or use an app (might be called freeze root) before you can get an update.

I have gotten Custom Recovery installed on my E970 with FreeGee after rooting with FramaRoot.

I heard that the LG OPTIMUS G LS970 is receiving the update on the 20th of August this was from the page
