This doesn't have to do with my phone but it is the only forum I'm signed up with so I thought I would ask here. I want to upgrade my desktop video card. I have a Radeon HD 5870 1GB GDDR5. I would be used for gaming. I would like to improve the look of GTA V and they recommend a 2 GB card. I'm just a little unsure about what would work in my system. My computer is about 8 years old, Intel Core i7 @ 2.80ghz, Win 7, 9gb ram and a 525w psu. So I would like to upgrade to a 2gb card, gaming card. I guess some cards are for gaming strictly and some aremn't. I don't know the difference. So if you can give me your thoughts I would appreciate it.

Any graphics card can be used for gaming. Some are better suited, but all can be used. I'm not much of an AMD guy....I don't know models off the top of my head. What is your budget?

What goal do you have for your gaming experience? Framerate, resolution?

I don't really mind which card Nvidia or Redeon. I've had both in the past and both seem decent. I think more people do lean toward Nvidia. I would like to not spend more then $300. I was looking at a whole new rig and with a very good system that would be great for gaming also I'm looking at $1300. Mine is about 8 years old but I do like the OS 7. I would have to learn and get used to 10 if I get a new one. GTA is one of the most HD games I think out there. I can only use in game settings a 600x800 res. Anything better I can't change because of my 1gb vid card. Anything better requires over 1gb. I don't know much about framerates so I don't think I'm too concerned about that. I know it is important for gaming, isn't ideal like 60-75? Another forum I posted this on said what's my motherboard. Here is a link to my MB. 5DN3X 05DN3X CN-05DN3X | Dell 5DN3X Studio Xps 9100 Motherboard
