hey all. I had previously had the Note 9. Samsung has the Note 10 Plus unlocked and certified preowned on their website right now for around 20 bucks a month. I could easily get this device. It is around 700 but monthly payments are always the way to go for me as I do not have hundreds of extra dollars laying around. Is this a worthwhile device from the Note 9 though? I don't care for the Note 20 and refuse to pay 1200 dollars.

The thing that I would dislike the most so far about the Note 10 plus is lack of headphone jack and the power button being on the left side from what I have read.

At this point, why not look at the note 20 ultra? Just curious

Because I refuse to pay 1200 dollars for a device. That and I already tried out the device. Camera was awful IMO.

Just curious, what didn't you like about it? If they don't decide to release a premium Note 21 device I will upgrade to the Note 20 Ultra.

The images from the camera just didn't look good IMO. They didn't seem colorful at all, sharp or anything pleasant. Seemed to be a common problem in all Samsung high end 2020 devices as I tried out several others and had the same problem. Namely the S20 FE and S20.

I upgraded to note 10+ from note 8 and this is absolutely one of the best device I used. As two more years of security updates are promised by Samsung, Note 10+ will stay relevant.

The thing that bothers me most is no headphone jack. The Note 9 literally has everything. Well, that is, except a faster charging speed. Note 10 plus is awesome with that 45 watt charger.

I can tell you this, don't upgrade for the 45 watt charger, it's not what it's cracked up to be. Go to youtube and see for yourself, I can speak from experience.

Stay with your note 9. If you like it, then there's no reason to change. Everyone is different, I don't buy a phone for the camera, so most pictures are fine for me, I'm not that picky about that, it's a phone, not a camera. I personally thought the note 9 was one the worse ones they made, that's my opinion. If you want a phone with a good camera, samsung probably isn't your phone, I know, I'll get chastised for that, but it's true.

Edit..as far as the headphone jack, get used to not having one, it isn't coming back. Another reason to keep your note 9. And of course these are just my opinions, not facts and you don't have to agree with it.

Yeah I don't really feel like paying 700 dollars for an already almost two year old phone. I don't buy a phone for the camera either, but I also don't want the images from the camera to be garbage either. Personally I think the Note 9 has the best camera I've ever used on a phone. Not necessarily for features, I mean image quality-wise. There will probably always be a company out there somewhere that has a headphone jack. LG still makes their devices like that, but doesn't do me that much good. Wasn't impressed with LG devices in the past year. And if they even end up sticking around.

I will definitely more than likely just keep my Note 9. Even though it's going on three years old, it's still pretty relative to today if you ask me. And plus, when I purchased it, it was late 2019. It would be nice if it could at least do 25 watt fast charging, but obviously that wasn't a thing with Samsung then.

My wife kept her Note 9 while I upgraded to the Note 10+ when it was released. Our experience;
I've become the default cameraman because the Note 10s camera is better than the 9. Storage does not matter to her so she is OK with her 128gb storage VS 256gb of my 10+. The 25w fast charging is great for when you need a quick charge in little time. She spends more time on the charger plus her battery life is not as good as it was. We are not big headphone users but the USD C headphones work for me when needed and switch to buds when I need to charge at the same time. I blew her away recently when I recharged her phone off the back of mine. Overall the Note 10+ is just a bit smoother and feature packed than her Note 9.
Currently she is looking to upgrade because of a few quirks her phone has developed. I passed on upgrading to the Note 20 myself so I am looking to see what Samsung does with the Note 21. If there is no SD card support like the S21 then I will be hanging on to my Note 10+. Hope this helps.

Will its lack of 5G capability be an issue for you in about 18 months time? I've used my Note 10 Plus for 15 months and usually get bored by 24 months( mitigated by buying another phone in between). This phone might actually last 36 months. The newer phones haven't enticed me. The presence of the indwelling S Pen is highly important to me.
P.S I sold my Note 9 last July and as of today that phone I bought 27 months ago is still working great.

Based on what I've read from 5G capable phone users, I don't think that will be an issue for me. Users report seldom connections at actual 5G speeds plus 4G is going to be around for many years to come. In 18 months I may already own a Note 21 or will be considering a replacement.

You've read correctly, 5G is a long ways from being worth anything. You have a few years.

No, I don't care about 5G. Honestly with T-Mobile, it seems to be about the same. 4G is perfectly fine for me. And is it just me, or does 5G drain battery more?

I only asked because it's been hyped a lot in North America. I have no interest in it and know the telecom companies in my country cant afford it in its present technological state

I bypassed the Note 9 and went to Note 10+ from a Note 8, definitely a good move! This device is awesome! It did take a bit of a learning curve to get used to not having a physical power button, but Iwas forever grabbing the Note 8 and touching that button anyway, turning off my screen.

Not having a physical power button on the Note 10+ does seem to interfere with my ability to engage the Android 11 Cats. hmm, still following up on that.

I just started using Samsung Dex with my Note 10+ and am impressed, so far. Even if it has taken some frustrating steps to get set up.

you will be pleased with moving to the Note 10+.

The Ultra gave me headaches so I went back to my 10+. No difference in performance that was noticeable. Still have the card slot and phone pay which the Ultra lacks. Bigger screen. If someone were to argue that the 10+ is overall better than the Ultra you'd get no complaints from me.
