Best buy is offering $550 for my Note 8 "if I upgrade.

Didn't plan to, but when the Note 10 comes out, my phone won't be worth that much.

You think I should pull the trigger?

read the fine print.

It's the same. You get $550 gift card that u can use towards an unlocked s10.

If it doesn't lock you into any contract and you don't use the s-pen much then I would go ahead, you will get a much better trade in price for the S10 when Note 10 comes out and have a new fun device to play with until then :-)

That is exactly I am thinking of doing. May have a good trade in price for the S10 when the Note comes out.

people often ask me why I go to best buy and such..pretty much this.
good deals. (I usually go contract my self) when I got the note 8 they had a big trade in so used the card to pay for my phone, a case, wireless charger and still had like $50 bucks left over

Looks like Samsung is offering the same trade in price on their website.

Samsung site $999, trade in up to $550, so $450 to play with a new phone?
why not wait for Note 10 and sell the note 8 on ebay for maybe $400?

currently S10+ on ebay can be had for $900, and currently Note 8 is about $350. The outlay is actually about $600, if you count ebay/paypal fees and shipping on the $350 that you will get... so... 900 - 300 = $600... and yes, on eBay, one never knows what one will get, so you will have to substract a few dollars for the aggravation.

i guess it all comes out the same in the end...
and if you trade one in now, the outlay is $450

I'm just thinking out loud now... so when the Note 10 comes out, the Note 8 may be worth $300 for trade in [currently an S8+ trades in at 300], so still another 600-700 outlay.

why does life have to be so complicated?

I think Samsung is trying to super charge 10 & 10+ sales. I doubt they offer a rich incentive like this with the Note 10.

I'm probably stupid for not jumping on this offer - the in screen fingerprint sensor looks unbelievably cool, and even the base 128GB model has a stupid amount of storage that I'll never touch.

My complaint on the 8 has been battery life- I have it and an iPhone 7, and both phones can sit unused on my desk all day, and end of day, the iPhone will have like 85% and the 8 would be in the 50-60 range. And I mean, both basically doing the same thing, nothing.

And then I just had the glass over the camera lens in the back crack out of nowhere which Samsung fixed.

But, I just got my daughter an iPhone Xr and that is an unbelievably nice phone, and getting that through my provider is so attractive, that I may keep the 8 and let that be the secondary phone in my life.

I just finished upgrading my Note 8 to the S10+. TBH the only improvement is the battery life and the design of the phone. Performance is almost the same although I was running the Pie One UI beta on my Note 8. If you're on Oreo then you will notice a performance boost. I do miss the rear fingerprint and iris authentication. The FPS on my S10+ has been disappointing so far. I'll wait for updates and rescan my fingerprints once my Domeglass arrives. I was going to trade it in but the Note 8 is still a beast of a phone and will hand it off to my mother instead. It's too early for it to be put to pasture by Samsung. The S10+ I think is still a great phone but you won't notice big improvements unless you're coming from the S8 and below.

I picked up both th S10+ and the S10e without the Verizon bogo. I’m playing with the + for a few weeks before handing it over to my husband. My teenage daughter has the e and loves it.

It’s a nice phone. The finger print scanner is hit or miss, but getting better. I think there’s a pretty steep learning curve. (Nothing compared to the useless one on the Note 4 though) The screen is beautiful ant the hole punch isn’t too distracting. I haven’t had any time to play with the cameras yet, but that’s the whole point of me hanging onto it. I’ll be heading out to the coast next week and Disneyland the following week so will have plenty of time to test it out.

The plan is to switch back to my Note 8 after my trips. I’m still in love with that phone and while the S10+ is nice, I miss my SPen after just 24 hours. I am planning to get the Note 10 when it comes out though. It should have all of the great features of the S series with the extras that come along with the Note.
