US release date could be July 12th!

Makes since. I kind of laugh when everyone is canceling there order with Google thinking they will get it first if they go to a store...... Google has started to ship them now and the stores have been delayed until further notice.....kinda glad I didn't cancel my order

Guys. I posted earlier about my conversation with a Google rep.

I called maybe 30 minutes later (slow day at work) and got semi-conflicting information.

The first rep told me Monday-Wednesday next week for delivery. The second rep said since I ordered on the 2nd that my order wouldn't come til probably Wednesday-Friday next week. He said they are all sitting there waiting to ship, but they are having delays due to all of the returns, canceled orders, etc. He said the reason for this was they had a really weakly staffed returns department and they are overloaded. He said once they get all of those returns/cancels processed, they are shipping.

Here's my thought. All of the people cancelling their google orders thinking they are getting them at the stores sooner are causing more delays, which then delays the stores, and the cycle continues.

Exactly people just can't wait an extra day or two

You gotta be kidding me lol that's semi-hilarious though.

I am going to laugh when those that canceled, then ordered from a B&M are still waiting for their N7, and I am rocking mine even though I didn't order until the 10 th.:D

The only thing that makes me question that theory is what I have read the past few days regarding returns: I don't know how true it is, but several people have posted about trying to cancel their order (back to last weekend!?!). Some of them were told that it's not possible - to just refuse the UPS shipment and it will be refunded when returned to Google... If This was the way they were handling cancellations, then it wouldn't affect the shipping numbers.

Who knows? maybe they were trying that strategy originally and then decided that since so many were cancelling and demand was so high, that they would avoid that whole process and cancel them outright vs the ship-refuse-and-return strategy

Eubuyers consumers won't get it until 7/19
Adorama actually still don't have the N7 and might get them to today. FYI if you go to there site you can add to the cart and they have disclaimer on the N7 that goes like this "*Note: Please Note! This Item is on the way to our warehouse and is expected in a few d...?" They might get it today but doesn't mean they can sell it today. Google has not let anyone down. The retail stores are just leaking or speculating information on there own behalf and nothing to do with Google. Google has the final say on when retailers can sell their product and Google has not stated anything.

IMO I would really not worry about it.

Sure wish Google would make an official statement or communicate to the folks that ordered it on day 1.

I think the issue started when folks started crying about play pre-orders not getting preferential treatment, when in essence ALL orders were pre-orders.

Once Google got wind of all the ing and belly-aching, they decided to slow things down.

GameStop, Staples, Office Max, etc all could have started selling today and the shipments would probably have gone out last night /early this morning - and by tomorrow most folks would have had their tablets in hand.

Instead? A bunch of babies probably called google crying about the "fairness" of it all and google said "screw it" - rather than deal with these whiners, EVERYBODY waits.

And that's where we are now.

Clearly, the stores were set to sell on July 12, so I'm going to assume THAT was the "street" date.

Well, if it makes anyone feel better or maybe worse, I checked some of the tracking numbers that people posted earlier. They used to say 2nd Day Air with delivery expected tomorrow. Not it shows Monday as the date. So, it doesn't look like too many people will be getting them before the weekend if they are tracking numbers for N7s.

I don't buy for half a second that "all the returns and cancellations" are the fault for the alleged delay. I think that had zero impact on shipping and the release.

How about another theory? QC may found a possible firmware error glitch? Or maybe the play store servers aren't completely setup to handle the the rush it's about it get. So they put a delay into the release to avoid the "How could google ship knowing they had issues?!?!?" backlash that would occur. From my POV they are still within the 2-3 week time frame they stated.

If you look on the Google Play website regarding shipping, instead of it saying that orders will ship mid-July, now it says

"When will my preorder ship?
Nexus 7 preorders should begin shipping soon. Once your order has shipped, you’ll receive a shipping confirmation email and tracking number.

If you preordered from a retailer other than Google Play, please contact them for further assistance."

Except that they're already sitting in stores, under lock & key "until further notice" from google.

hmm weird I ordered mine yesterday July 11th and now under the account page it says July 13, 2012 as the date?

Ok guys been refreshing this for a couple days now, and I've decided to put my own theory in. It goes like this..... There has not been a official release date given yet. So it's not delayed. I ordered mine on the 29th and was hoping this rumor was true because I really want to get rid of my pos Tab
